How you can watch The Boys season 4 episode 4 online

The first three episodes of The Boys were more intense than anything they've done in the past and it's only the beginning. Here's what happened in the previous episodes, what you can expect from episode 4, and how to watch the rest of the season.

The Boys returned with a three-episode premiere and it was amazing. Fans were introduced to the smartest person in the world, Sister Sage, and the conspiracy theory leader, Firecracker. Homelander is starting to go gray (and keeping the gray hairs in a jar like a weirdo). M.M. fired Butcher from The Boys despite needing his help later on. That’s only some of the things going on. Below are bullet points from the episodes.

Key takeaways from The Boys season 4 episodes 1, 2 and 3

  • Butcher sees Becca (his dead wife) as he did in The Boys: Dear, Becky.
  • Black Noir is talking. Who is he? Is he really an actor or is Vought up to something?
  • Sage is playing Homelander, but to what end?
  • Something is moving in Butcher’s brain. Is it healing him, was it put there, or is it a side effect of Compound V?
  • Frenchie used the line “If you must inflict pain, perhaps I can endure so others don’t suffer." This is a reference to something Frenchie said in the comics.
  • Are The Boys worse without Butcher in charge?
  • Homelander’s aging made him more irrational than normal (yes, that’s possible).

Going into episode 4, there are two major things you need to know. First, Homelander is losing his mind. Like Norman Osborn in Spider-Man (2002) the world’s most powerful hero is talking to himself in the mirror and his reflections are talking back. Unlike the comics, this isn’t an effect of Black Noir doing things Homelander thought he did. Homelander is becoming more unstable. Not something the world needs.

Second, superpowers come with consequences and Sister Sage is no different. Her brain could be expanding due to her superhuman intelligence. She may need to relieve the pressure from her skull. That’s why there’s a bloody lobotomy tool on the table. It also explains why Sage is watching reality TV and eating a blooming onion. If that’s not weird enough, she had sex with The Deep and it was her idea.

What to expect

The teaser for episode 4 (that you can see above) shows a lot. Homelander goes back to the lab where he was born and raised. It wasn't somewhere full of hope and pleasantries. He was tortured and abused. It's why he's the person he is today. It won’t be surprising if Homelander kills everyone there. Or, and this should worry people, what if the scientists are working on the Homelander solution? Maybe this is where they created the new Black Noir (I’m not letting that go).

Firecracker will tell the world something that could ruin Annie January’s reputation. Whether or not it’s true remains to be seen. Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter. Firecracker’s followers will believe anything she says. Plus, Annie wasn’t always a nice person. We could see a side of her we didn’t know existed.

Lastly, pay close attention to Sage. Everything she does is for a reason and she doesn’t miss much. She may be working with Homelander and Vought International, but not for them. The smartest person in the world wouldn’t work with these people without getting what she wanted in return. However, what Sage wants remains a mystery. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to find out what that is.
