Iron Man star will reportedly return in Deadpool and Wolverine

It sounds like we may be about to see the return of one of the MCU's oldest characters in Deadpool and Wolverine.

Deadpool and Wolverine is shaping up to be the movie of the summer. The 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's a big one for many reasons but among them are the introduction of the Deadpool franchise into the MCU and the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

It's also expected to be one of the most important movies of Marvel's Multiverse Saga, meaning that we could see plenty of cameos and appearances from other MCU stalwarts. Or perhaps we could even see characters from other, non-MCU, Marvel properties make an appearance (remember those cameos in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?).

Yes, Jackman might not be the only returnee in the movie, as a new report suggests we'll be welcoming back an Iron Man star.

Iron Man's Jon Favreau rumored to return in Deadpool and Wolverine

It sounds like one of the MCU's longest-standing characters could be about to return in Deadpool and Wolverine. According to Marvel insider and scooper CanWeGetSomeToast, Iron Man's Jon Favreau is set to make an appearance in the movie, reprising his role as Happy Hogan. If that is indeed the case, it would be the first time fans have seen the character since the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Appearing as far back as the first Iron Man movie, Happy is one of the few remaining characters who have been with the MCU since the very beginning (alongside Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury). While other actors who had roles in the movie, such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Paul Bettany, could theoretically return in future projects, the film's title character Tony Stark sacrificed himself in Avengers: Endgame. While actor Robert Downey Jr. is open to returning in the future, it's unlikely that Tony himself would be brought back to life considering how pivotal his death was.

Happy has become something of a regular in the MCU himself. He went from appearing in all three Iron Man movies to recurring in all three Spider-Man movies, while also appearing in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The character wasn't written out so it's highly likely that we will see him again at some point, and now it looks like Deadpool and Wolverine could be when that return takes place.

Given how Happy Hogan was often used as a humorous character, he would probably fit right in in this one, undoubtedly on the wrong end of a joke at the hands of Deadpool.

Could Jon Favreau's potential return mean a different comeback?

Naturally the potential of a comeback for Jon Favreau has fans wondering what kind of role Happy Hogan could play in Deadpool and Wolverine if he were to appear. However, there is also speculation that Favreau won't be playing Happy at all, with some fans wondering if he could be reprising his role as Foggy Nelson from 2003's Daredevil instead.

Two of the cameos rumored for the upcoming third Deadpool movie are Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, who are believed to be reprising their respective roles as Elektra and Matt Murdock. So, could Foggy be joining them?

It's quite possible that this could be the case, actually. Not only is Deadpool and Wolverine the perfect example of a movie that will introduce non-MCU Marvel characters into this world (via Wolverine), the Multiverse Saga has been doing that for a number of years now. Sony's two previous Spider-Men, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, both appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home, while Patrick Stewart reprised his role from the X-Men movies as Professor Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

With the Multiverse Saga now in full swing, anything can happen in the MCU these days. Either way, if Jon Favreau does make an appearance, it will be great to see him again no matter who he is playing.
