Marvel reportedly 'considering' second season renewal for hit Disney+ show

Marvel Studios hasn't handed out many renewals to its Disney+ shows, but it seems conversations are underway to bring at least one hit series from the Marvel Disney+ slate back for another season!

It’s a strange time to be a Marvel fan for one major reason: there is a lot of uncertainty within the MCU at the moment.

While it’s true that there are a handful of high-profile projects confirmed to be coming soon including Fantastic Four: First Steps, a pair of Avengers movies, and a small handful of Marvel Disney+ shows, the broader future of the MCU remains very much up in the air. Many expected that Marvel Studios would use this year’s San Deigo Comic-Con Hall H panels or even the Studios Spotlight at D23 to share information about new films and shows coming, but both events came and went without a single new Marvel project announcement – sans the title change of Avengers 5 from Avengers: Kang Dynasty to Avengers: Doomsday.

Marvel has always kept fans in the dark to a certain extent, but in the past, the studio has been much more forward in mapping out its future phases and announcing projects years in advance of their release. However, lately, it seems like the studio has gotten a bit gun-shy and has been holding back on fans with little known about the futures of many ongoing franchises including those on the big screen and which have unfolded on the small screen via Disney+ series.

With the Disney+ slate, in particular, Marvel Studios has kept fans in limbo waiting to discover whether any of its live-action series were more than one-off limited series. To date, Loki is the only original Marvel Studios live-action show that has gotten more than one season on Disney+ and Marvel has yet to confirm the fate of any other series on the platform despite most having dropped over two years ago.

Rumors continue to swirl regarding whether we might actually get a second season of any of the shows waiting in limbo, and the latest report from a trusted Marvel scooper seems to suggest Marvel is considering renewing at least one hit series for a second season.

Marvel is considering Ms. Marvel season 2

While nothing has been announced just yet by Marvel Studios, trusted Marvel scooper Daniel RPK is reporting that Marvel is currently discussing a second season of Ms. Marvel. While he notes that no green light has been given just yet for season 2, it seems Marvel is in discussions to bring the show back for another season which isn’t surprising at all.

Ms. Marvel performed incredibly well for Disney+ and also was praised by critics and fans alike as one of the best Marvel original series to have been released on Disney+. Not only was the series a success, but fans immediately fell in love with Iman Vellani as the show’s title character Kamala Khan, and that love has only further grown following her role in The Marvels.

Fans are eager for more Kalama in the MCU and it would be a complete miss not to bring Ms. Marvel back for another season given the role the character is set to play in building the Young Avengers team.

As fans saw in The Marvels, Kamala has started assembling her own team of young heroes beginning with a visit to Kate Bishop, who is set to play a key role on the team. With the Young Avengers slowly being assembled, a second season of Ms. Marvel could be used to further build the team by following Kamala as she sets out to recruit additional members paving the way for an epic final battle in which they all come together for the first time and an also charting the course for the heroes to assemble again on the big screen alongside the Avengers.

Of course, that’s just one story idea the show could explore as there are so many different stories from the comics that Marvel could adapt in Ms. Marvel season 2. No matter the story, fans are eager to see more of Kamala and we have faith in Marvel that they’d land on the perfect story to be explored in a second season. We just need Marvel Studios to stop talking about a renewal and actually hand one out so that work can officially begin on a second season of the show!
