Max quietly removed 31 DC movies from its library this April (Find out if your favorites got the boot)
By Cody Schultz
We’re apparently living in quite wild times. Disney+ recently added a handful of DC movies to its streaming library and now Max has quietly purged nearly three dozen DC movies from its library. That’s right, there are 31 fewer DC movies now available to watch on Max after the streaming service removed a wave of DC titles.
As of April 2024, the following movies are no longer available to stream on Max:
- Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around the World (2015)
- Batman: Assault on Arkham (2014)
- Batman: Bad Blood (2016)
- Batman: Death in the Family (2020)
- Batman: Hush (2019)
- Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
- Batman: Ninja (2018)
- Batman: Under the Red Hood (2010)
- Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (2000)
- Batman vs. Robin (2015)
- Catwoman (2004)
- Constantine (2005)
- Green Lantern (2011)
- Injustice (2021)
- Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths (2010)
- Justice League: Doom (2012)
- Justice League: Throne of Atlantis (2015)
- Justice League: War (2014)
- Justice League vs. Teen Titans (2016)
- Justice Society: World War II (2021)
- Legion of Super-Heroes (2023)
- Lego Batman: The Movie - DC Super Heroes Unite (2013)
- Scooby-Doo and Krypto Too (2023)
- Supergirl (1984)
- Superman/Batman: Public Enemies (2009)
- Teen Titans: The Judas Contract (2017)
- Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo (2006)
- Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans (2019)
- The Dark Knight Returns - Part 1 (2012)
- The Dark Knight Returns - Part 2 (2013)
- Watchmen: Motion Comic (2008)
This isn’t entirely uncommon as Max has been known to remove films from its catalog in the past and we’ve seen removed titles make their way back to the service down the line. This is definitely one of the largest DC movie purges we’ve seen from Max, but the good news is that there are still plenty of DC movies to enjoy on the streaming service.
While many animated DC films and several classic titles have been pulled as of April 2024, Max is still home to many of DC’s most recent films as well as several iconic collections from the DC vault. Among the movies still streaming on Max are the DCEU films, Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, and the classic Batman films including both Michael Keaton-led titles. There are also still plenty of DC animated movies to enjoy on the platform as well for those who are looking for an animated original for your next movie night.
One of the most notable removals is Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern which is actually now only streaming for free on Tubi. The movie otherwise is only available to rent or buy on platforms such as Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV. While perhaps not DC’s best offering, the film is still a fun watch and it’s a shame we’ll now have to look elsewhere to enjoy the movie after Max removed it this month.
