Marvel Studios has been taking us all across the multiverse in recent years. The franchise's Multiverse Saga has been broadening the horizons of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, welcoming back some classic Marvel heroes and introducing us to new worlds and realities. It's been a thrill-ride to be a part of it, even with some of its ups and downs.

It's all building towards two major movies that will either make or break this chapter in the movie series. Those films are, of course, the next chapters in the Avengers franchise, as Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are expected to bring the Multiverse Saga to a close once and for all (much like Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame did for the Infinity Saga).

Fans are expecting some big appearances, cameos, and returns for the two films, which are expected to feature a Multiversal War. We know that Robert Downey Jr. will be returning in the new role of villain Doctor Doom, but it sounds like he won't be the only original Avengers star to make his presence felt on the double feature.

Jeremy Renner will reportedly return as Hawkeye in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars

According to scooper account Marvel News (formerly Marvel Scoops), Jeremy Renner will reprise his role as Hawkeye in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Needless to say, if this turns out to be the case, it would be very welcome news indeed.

Renner made his first MCU appearance as Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, in 2011's Thor before going on to play a more pivotal role in The Avengers as one of the six original members of the titular team. He has reappeared in multiple movies throughout the franchise, including two of the subsequent three Avengers movies. He finally got his own spotlight in Disney Plus series Hawkeye when he teamed with super-fan Kate Bishop, helping her become his successor.

Hawkeye very much implied that Clint was done with the heroics and that Kate would take over as the next Hawkeye, but as we've seen with the likes of Tony Stark, the call must be answered when the fate of the universe - or, in this case, the multiverse - is at stake. And thus, it's entirely believable that he would return to help the new team of Avengers take down Doctor Doom, especially now that he has a personal connection to the villain (due to the fact that he looks like Tony Stark).

While Marvel has yet to confirm the line-up of the next Avengers, Renner himself has teased fans with the possibility of a comeback. Speaking to US Weekly, he told the outlet that he was "really excited" about Avengers: Doomsday, especially after hearing the news that Robert Downey Jr. would be playing Doctor Doom. He then added that he "probably will be doing it", although he added that it would be challenging to get everyone together again due to their schedules. And he's not wrong, with the new Avengers movies likely to up the ante further after bringing so many of them together for 2019's Endgame.

Even though it looked like Clint might hang up the bow-and-arrow for good after Hawkeye, it's important to remember that he also got his comic-accurate suit for the first time ever on that show. It would be a waste if he didn't get to wear it alongside his fellow Avengers at least once, right?

It's also important to remember that a second season of Hawkeye is reportedly in the works, with Renner rumored to return, so it's entirely possible that he could be making more than one comeback to the franchise. And honestly, that's great news.
