Blade

If there is one Marvel movie that holds the most intrigue among fans, it's definitely Blade. Unfortunately, it's also the Marvel movie that might be in the most jeopardy right now. Yes, it's a strange turn of events for the Marvel Studios film, but if you've been waiting for Blade to come to fruition over the past five years, you're well aware of the issues that it has faced.

The film had its star Mahershala Ali right out of the gate, as the actor was announced to be headlining the picture at 2019's San Diego Comic-Con, but getting the rest of the production together has proven to be challenging for Marvel. It's gone through a number of rewrites since then, as well as directors, with two separate directors coming on board and then subsequently exiting the project due to the creative differences. It's all starting to sound a lot like what happened with DC's The Flash movie, which spent a decade in development hell as it went through multiple incarnations, and no studio wants that.

There has been speculation that Marvel may scrap the movie if they can't get it right. Though Kevin Feige and co. certainly sound committed to bringing the Daywalker to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it has proven to be a lot more tricky than expected. And with some of the studio's riskier projects, like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels both underperforming at the box office, they are in a bit of a reset era where they are reportedly taking less risks going forward. If Blade proves to be too much of a risk, there is a chance that they might ultimately decide against proceeding forward with it.

A recent report claims that the studio will be making a decision on the film in the near future, which doesn't sound too promising. It's been in limbo for a while as they attempt to figure out how to make it work, but if they can't, a cancellation could be coming. After all, the studio has cancelled a number of planned sequels in recent months. Granted, those were due to the performance of their predecessors, but it seems that nothing is off-limits in today's MCU. And those same reports also suggest that another MCU is in jeopardy, too. (More on that shortly...)
