Taika Waititi's Star Wars movie

You might see something of a trend on this list, and that's that movies that were announced over four years ago by either Disney, Marvel, or Lucasfilm have made very little movement in the years since. While some of that is down to the creative issues behind-the-scenes, others are seemingly down to the visionaries bringing them to life, and the busy schedules they have.

Taika Waititi's Star Wars movie seems to be a case of the latter. Originally announced back in 2020, there haven't been any significant updates about the project since, with fans speculating that it might be a case of the movie being quietly cancelled. A recent report from trusted industry insider Daniel Richtman claims that the movie is now on indefinite hold, which obviously puts its future into further question.

But Lucasfilm and Waititi insist that the delay is simply down to the director taking his time to perfect the project and work on his other projects at the same time. Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy joked that "Taika's a little slow", while he himself told Entertainment Tonight that he doesn't want to rush the project.

It's understandable for sure, but it hasn't gone a long way in ensuring fans that it will happen. The longer a project takes to come to fruition, the less excitement there is when it's released. That's not the case all of them time, but it's sure not a convincing approach that studio willingly opt for either. With that in mind, if the stars don't align in the near-future, don't be too surprised if this film doesn't end up going ahead.
