New rumors might have revealed the Spider-Man 4 release date window

We haven’t seen Tom Holland’s Spider-Man on the big screen in nearly three years and if new rumors are to be believed, we might not be seeing him swinging back into the MCU for his next solo movie for almost another two years.
Recent rumors from Marvel insider Daniel RPK have hinted that Spider-Man 4 could hit theaters between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars landing somewhere in the summer of 2026. These rumors go a step further by hinting that Marvel and Sony are planning on releasing the film in July 2026, which would make perfect sense.
Earlier this summer, Marvel removed a Marvel movie slated to release on July 24, 2026, from its cinematic release schedule. Many speculated the move could be to make way for the next Spider-Man movie and if the rumors are to be believed seems to be the case. Now, what will be interesting is to see whether Spider-Man 4 might slot into that July 24, 2026 release date or if Marvel simply took the untitled Marvel project off the calendar for the month in order to avoid putting a film in direct competition with Spider-Man 4.
Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home both released in early July, so it’s entirely possible Sony could look to release the next installment of Holland’s Spider-Man franchise during the first weekend of the month. If Sony takes that approach, we could see the movie released on Friday, July 3, 2026, which would be perfect for Sony as that happens to be the Fourth of July weekend which is always a major weekend for moviegoers.
Spider-Man 4 expected to be a multiversal movie
While we’ll have to wait to see when exactly Sony chooses to release Spider-Man 4 and whether the rumors of a July 26 release date are accurate, it seems when Spider-Man does return to the big screen for his next adventure he’s in store for another multiversal mashup film.
If this is the case, it’s going to be interesting to see how the film shapes up and what story is told. It also seems likely that this was a decision that likely hails from Sony as there had been rumors that Marvel Studios was hoping to tell a street-level film that could pull in fellow NYC-set characters such as Daredevil and Kingpin.
Instead, it’s looking likely that Sony is hoping to pull off another multiversal storyline.
Reports from Daniel RPK hint that the film’s timing between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, is because the fourth film will be another multiverse movie. Given Holland has been rumored to be a central character in the next Avengers movies, it makes sense that Spider-Man 4 would become a multiversal movie – especially considering there have been rumors that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield could return for the projects.
If Maguire and Garfield are indeed meant to have a role in Avengers: Secret Wars, bringing them back in the next Spider-Man movie would be a natural way to prepare for their return and would also give Sony the chance to build upon the success of No Way Home by giving fans more of the Spider-Man trio together on the big screen.
