Patty Jenkins confirms what we all knew: Wonder Woman 3 is dead
Just when we thought our superhero dreams were lined up perfectly, like ducks in a row, ready for another epic showdown of truth and justice, the rug has been yanked out from under us.
As reported by Deadline, Patty Jenkins dropped the super-sized bummer in an interview during Max’sTalking Pictures Podcast that Wonder Woman 3 has indeed been shelved - possibly forever. When asked if anyone else would pick up the reigns and make the movie, Jenkins said, “No, they’re not interested in doing any Wonder Woman for the time being.” It’s like finding out your favorite ice cream shop has gone sugar-free. Why must the universe toy with our emotions?
Imagine that - no more of Gal Gadot's fierce Diana Prince, no more Amazonian wisdom, and definitely no more of those breathtaking slow-mo action sequences that made us all feel like we could take on the world.
Ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the reins at DC Studios, they've been steering the ship in a new direction, which sadly doesn’t include our heroine's next chapter. During the interview, Jenkins mentioned it wasn't an easy decision and acknowledged the monumental task the new chiefs have at navigating the future of the DCEU. But still, it stings! It’s like being promised a sequel to your favorite blockbuster only to find out it’s been swapped for a documentary on paint drying.
But wait, there’s a silver lining... sort of. At least for us Star Wars fans.
While the Amazon princess might be taking an extended sabbatical, Jenkins isn't hanging up her director's hat just yet. She’s pivoting back to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. While we won't be getting our dose of lasso-whipping justice, we might see some starfighter action zooming our way soon. She's promised to pour her heart into this, hoping to sprinkle some of that Jenkins magic across the stars.
While it's a sad day for Wonder Woman fans, we must channel our inner warriors and keep the hope alive. Maybe one day, our beloved heroine will grace our screens again. Until then, who knows what adventures await in the vast expanses of space under Jenkins' creative command?
