Superman and Lois and 4 other comic book shows to watch in October 2024
It's finally time to go up, up, and away! That's right, over a year after its third season concluded, Superman and Lois returns to The CW for its fourth - and unfortunately final - season. The beloved DC TV series is the last remnant of the network's Arrowverse franchise, and fans will no doubt be ready to pay their respects to that legacy by tuning into the 10-episode finale season.
But October is something of a rarity as it will feature multiple superhero and comic book shows for us all to enjoy! Yes, Clark Kent and Lois Lane aren't alone in flying the DC flag, as another DC TV series will air the majority of its episodes this month. And they will also be joined by new episodes of a new Marvel favorite, another Walking Dead spinoff, and a beloved Netflix series based on an equally beloved comic book.
If it's capes and flights or love and heart that you're looking for, this spooky season is set to be a sensational one for comic book adaptations.

Release date: October 3, 2024
Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring return for another installment of everyone's favorite lovely TV show. Netflix's Heartstopper was so adored after its first season streamed that the platform instantly renewed it for two seasons. After the second took our favorite characters to Paris, the third looks to bring them all the way back down to Earth with a grounded and emotional season that looks set to see the show tackle its most mature subjects yet.
As Charlie struggles, Nick worries about his boyfriend more than ever, and he must figure out how to help him, even if he can't do it alone. Yes, Heartstopper season 3 is shaping up to be an emotional one that will no doubt have fans falling in love with Nick and Charlie, and their love for each other, all over again.
The world is a better place with Heartstopper in it; and our Octobers are certainly better off for it, too.
Superman and Lois season 4
Release date: October 7, 2024
After a year-long wait, Superman and Lois finally returns to TV screens for its fourth and final season this month. To say it's been a long time coming would be an understatement, so we're more than ready for it; especially given that creative team are determined to ensure that it bows out on a memorable note. How are they going to do that? Why, by adapting The Death of Superman, of course!
When we last saw the Man of Steel, he was embroiled in a vicious battle with Doomsday, who was born out of the ashes of Bizarro at the hands of Lex Luthor. The two titans faced off on the moon (yes, the moon!) after Superman fought back against his violent attack. But, as the trailer for season 4 suggests, Clark might just defeat the monster but it also seemingly comes at the cost of his own life.
How will the residents of Smallville (and indeed the world) respond to the apparent death of their hero, and how will the Kent-Lane-Irons clan react to the apparent death of their father, husband, and friend? How can one even answer that question? Well, here's hoping that it's with a triumphant Superman return to stop Lex once and for all.
Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch have done wonders as these classic characters, and we can't wait to see them bring them to life one more time.
Agatha All Along
Releases: New episodes every Wednesday in October
Marvel Studios returned to the world of Westview last month when it kicked off new MCU Disney Plus series Agatha All Along. The show is a spinoff of WandaVision focusing on ancient witch Agatha Harkness, who had been trapped in a spell by the Scarlet Witch. But when Agatha breaks out of the Agnes character she was stuck in, a new mystery unfolds.
Kathryn Hahn leads an incredible ensemble, featuring Heartstopper's Joe Locke, Aubrey Plaza, Debra Jo Rupp, and Patti LuPone, as Agatha looks to walk the Witches' Road to reclaim her former glory. In doing so, she must avoid the revenge-driven Salem Seven and find a way to survive the many miles of tricks and trials that are thrown her and her coven's way.
Agatha All Along may have premiered in September, but it will continue to run all through October, with a special two-episode finale airing on October 30. It's a perfect treat for the spooky season.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 ("The Book of Carol")
Releases: New episodes every Sunday in October
Two of The Walking Dead's most beloved characters return in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 for what is bound to be an emotional reunion. Yes, Melissa McBride is back as Carol Peletier and she's ready to take on all comers, living or dead, to find her best friend, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus).
When we last saw Daryl, he was contemplating leaving France so that he could return home to his family in the US, but his new mission of protecting Laurent took precedence as he once again protected the young boy from harm. But the ever-present threat of the walkers, and the new threat coming from their new adversaries, means that there will still be trials ahead for the TWD favorites.
The first season of Daryl Dixon was met with critical acclaim due to its refreshing storytelling, gripping performances, and stunning cinematography. Its second just premiered at the end of September, and it is showing all the signs of being every bit as phenomenal. Yes, "The Book of Carol" promises to be an exciting read.
The Penguin
Releases: New episodes every Sunday in October
The story of Matt Reeves' The Batman movie series continues in HBO spinoff The Penguin. That also means Colin Farrell returns as the iconic DC villain, who is destined to become the next criminal kingpin of Gotham City.
The show premiered to rave reviews in the back half of September and it will continue to run throughout October as Oz Cobb looks to make a name for himself in the aftermath of The Riddler's attack on the city. The series takes place one week after the 2022 film and will act as a bridge between it and its 2026 sequel The Batman - Part II.
The Penguin is even darker than its predecessor, showing us a side of Gotham City that the GCPD would prefer didn't exist. Farrell is nothing short of spectacular in the role, offering up a performance that feels like it belongs in The Sopranos. And given how gripping this DC crime saga is, he's perfectly at home in The Penguin as well.
