9. Smallville

Worn by: Tom Welling

Technically, Smallville did have a traditional Superman suit but we're not here to talk about that right now (don't worry, we'll get to that later). In the ten seasons it took to get there, however, the costume department got very imaginative to give the do-gooder hero Clark Kent some kind of uniform to wear when blurring through the streets of Metropolis and Smallville.

What originally started as a red jacket with a blue T-shirt (gotta be on-brand for the Red-Blue-Blur) eventually morphed into a long black trench coat and a black T-shirt with the House of El emblem on it. It wasn't very Superman, but Clark was going through a tough time during season 9, and it was an amazing look that Tom Welling pulled off very well. Hey, if Superman wasn't the endgame here, this would have been a great look for his whole superhero career.

As the show began moving towards the light of the Man of Tomorrow, Clark brought the red and blue back, opting for a new leather jacket that bore the legendary chest emblem. He also greased his hair back, edging ever so close to successfully separating the Clark Kent and hero personas.

Yes, Smallville took a long time to get Clark to Superman, but it successfully ensured that by the time it did, we would miss his days as The Blur - and those awesome suits were among the reasons why.
