Surprise Marvel announcement reveals big news for breakout MCU villain
It looks like the King of Talokan is set to make another appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's never clear which characters will have their stories extended these days. However, we may have a clearer picture soon since fans received an announcement stating the MCU will return to San Diego Comic-Con in July.
They'll likely expand on their new plans during their panel. There have been so many reports coming out regarding their direction that it's hard to sift through the noise. It will be nice to hear it from the horse's mouth.
Namor has plenty of story possibilities for the MCU to choose from
During their presentation, I hope to hear exactly what the plans for Namor are. Will he have a solo film, or are we talking about a television series? I would prefer the former. After watching the Talokanil warrior on the big screen, it feels like an injustice to reduce him to a Disney Plus feature. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of the Disney Plus detractors—most of the shows are awesome. But Namor has already proven himself to be a big-screen big dog and should remain as such.
In the comics, Namor has connections with the Fantastic Four, Emma Frost, Doctor Strange, and more, so the directions they could go with this are plenty. With the X-Men and Fantastic Four, both set to emerge from the depths of the MCU's character bag, it will be fascinating to see if Kevin Feige and the crew decide to tie him into one of those stories or give him one of his own.
Currently, it's uncertain whether Tenoch Huerta will reprise his role as the king of the depths but it would be a travesty if the casting goes in a different direction. Huerta played the role perfectly in Wakanda Forever, bringing the character to life with depth and menace. He should have an open invitation to become a mainstay in the MCU family for the foreseeable future.
