When Chadwick Boseman passed away, it didn't take long before the tragedy of the circumstances was met with curiosity for the future of the popular hero Boseman had brought to life, Black Panther. Fans, naturally, wanted to know how the studio would proceed as T'Challa had become larger than life for a myriad of reasons, but none more important than the purity Boseman brought to the role.

When the MCU decided not to recast the Wakandan king, people were split on the decision. Some felt it was respectful to Boseman not to recast because of what he meant to the role, while others felt that respecting Boseman and continuing the story of the Black Panther were not mutually exclusive.

There is a fair argument on both sides of that spectrum, and there is so much emotion mixed in for the person and the character that I find it hard to flat-out say you're wrong for feeling either way. But fear not, Black Panther lovers; more T'Challa may be on the way.

The MCU is picking a perfect time to bring T'Challa back

We all know the route that they will most likely take here. At the end of Wakanda Forever, we are introduced to T'Challa's son and as it turns out, he was given the same name as his father. There is a delicate balance that the MCU has reached with this decision. They are allowing fans who connected Chadwick Boseman directly to Black Panther to grieve his loss over time, especially because his passing felt so sudden.

Fandom has never been as intense as it is right now and Boseman's fans were loud about their hope not to see another actor in that role yet. They just weren't ready emotionally. There are so many stories that can be told in the MCU that they were never reliant on Black Panther to carry the franchise, so it does no harm to honor that request.

But introducing a son at the end of the Black Panther sequel felt like a beautiful, heartfelt moment that would lead to the resurgence of the hero down the line and we've almost arrived at that stop. I will welcome a new T'Challa with open arms and hope that he can live up to the large shadow cast by the late Boseman, but there will always be a level unreachable.

There have, obviously, been black superheroes before, but none had ever reached the scale of Black Panther and none of them had the cool factor that Chadwick brought to the role while being above reproach morally. That matters to a lot of people.
