The Walking Dead Universe will bring back some beloved faces next year, but don't expect these guys to be among the returnees.

Maggie and Negan

Now don't worry, The Walking Dead: Dead City is returning for a second season, so you will see Maggie Rhee and Negan on your screens again. However, it might not be in 2024.

We know that both The Ones Who Live and Daryl Dixon season 2 will air on AMC and AMC+ next year, but there has yet to be any updates about the second season of Dead City. The show was renewed alongside Daryl, but while that spinoff went straight into filming season 2, there hasn't been any confirmation as to when Dead CIty's sophomore run could film.

Taking that into account, it wouldn't be too surprising if AMC decided to hold it until 2025. Even if production starts imminently, it wouldn't be until fall or winter 2024 that it would premiere at the earliest, and even then that might be a long shot.

This is the first year that there are none of the long-running TWD shows on the air, as Fear The Walking Dead just recently ended its run after eight seasons, so it will seem strange if there is no TWD series on in the back half of the year. But if Dead City doesn't start filming in the first half of 2024, it's unlikely that it will make it to screens before the end of it.
