4 TV shows sadly in danger of cancellation

From the end of a DC era to jump onto the big screen, these TV shows may not last beyond their current and upcoming seasons.

Harley Quinn

Like The Sandman, Harley Quinn will also return shortly for its upcoming season. The Max original series was renewed for a fifth season by the WarnerMedia streamer last year (and it aired a Valentine's Special last year, too), and it is expected to air this November. But fans are concerned that this could be the final chapter for the show.

The truth is that Harley Quinn is lucky to still be on the air as it was a part of the previous Warner Bros./DC leadership's line-up. It is one of the only DC shows to survive the cancellation purges of 2022 and 2023, when its fellow DC Universe original series Titans, Doom Patrol, and Young Justice were cancelled (DC's Stargirl was also cancelled but that was down to decision made by its own network The CW). But it and Superman and Lois survived.

Well, Superman and Lois' fourth season was announced to be its last, and even though that originally seemed like it might have been down to The CW too, it was subsequently revealed that this was a decision that came from DC Studios directly. And with that in mind, could the same thing happen for Harley Quinn?

Normally, animated shows are exempt from whatever is going on in the live-action shared universes, but as James Gunn and Peter Safran want their new DC Universe to exist across film, TV, animation, video games, and more - and the new franchise will all begin with a new animated series on Max in Creature Commandos -that puts Harley Quinn in jeopardy.

A five-season run that involved surviving multiple network changes and the infamous DC cancellation spree - all while making countless people laugh - is a heck of a run. But can Harley Quinn return for a sixth season? We'll have to wait and see.
