Who plays Wolverine in Deadpool 3?

Listen up, bub, Wolverine is on his way back to the big screens and this time, he's coming for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The claws will be sharpened and the grumpiness will be on display in Marvel Studios' upcoming Deadpool 3; a movie that will bring Ryan Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth into the MCU for the first time ever (alongside his moody frenemy Wolverine).

The first trailer for the movie is upon us, screening during the Super Bowl LVIII, and it may leave fans a little perplexed knowing that Wolverine will be part of the movie since the X-Men aren't canon in the MCU just yet. Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine in Deadpool 3

Hugh Jackman is playing Wolverine in Deadpool 3, reprising his role from Fox's X-Men film series. He and Ryan Reynolds made the announcement back in 2022 in a special online clip, confirming that the veteran Wolverine actor would don those iconic claws one more time.

Jackman's return to the role is significant for a number of reasons, primarily because the last time he played the character was in 2017's Logan, a critically-acclaimed movie that brought the character's story to a close. It's expected that his return in Deadpool 3 will have something to do with the multiverse, essentially making him a Wolverine from an alternate earth or timeline.

Another reason that fans are ready for his return is that it marks the first time Jackman dons the character's iconic yellow and black suit. The Fox film series opted for a more grounded approach and thus he never sported Logan's signature colors in spite of such a comic-accurate performance. But now he will finally complete the look with the legendary suit.

The idea of having Wolverine and Deadpool in the MCU is so thrilling, and we're all incredibly excited to see how they fit in. Even more than that, we're ready to see how these two deliver what will probably be one of the most memorable buddy comedies of all time. And the thought of seeing Jackman and Reynolds act opposite each other in their most famous roles is just too awesome.
