Captain Boomerang is a joke. He doesn’t take anything seriously, he’s been beaten by the Flash more than anyone, and he’s been Amanda Waller’s lackey for decades. However, for as much of a joke as he is, ol’ Boomer is tough and knows where his bread is butter. This is a lesson Damian Wayne (Robin) and Wonder Woman learn in Tom King’s Wonder Woman No. 12.

In Absolute Power No. 2, Nightwing sends Wonder Woman to find Amanda Waller’s prison. Damian Wayne volunteers to go with her. If anyone knows where Waller is keeping the trapped heroes, it’s Captain Boomerang. Between Damian and Diana, they should be able to get information out of Boomer.

The problem came when they couldn’t decide how to get the location out of him. Wonder Woman thinks love will work and Damian believes torture is the way. Fun fact, they were both wrong.

Damian dangles him over various things with the danger of death via animal. The last one came with the threat of being beaten with a bat. Captain Boomerang’s been tortured by the best and had a bomb in his head. None of this was going to work.

Whenever Damian failed, Wonder Woman's methods were next. She tries a nice dinner, reuniting Boomerang with his son, and convincing him that a world without heroes would lead to Earth's destruction. Each ends with Wonder Woman hitting after Boomerang calls her a horrible name.

In the end, Captain Boomerang’s stupidity gave him away. While Wonder Woman and Damian Wayne are having a moment, Boomerang gives up where the heroes are while bragging about being great and not giving in to torture. To quote Snatch, “Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.” Or, as Wonder Woman said, “There is a power greater than both love and fear. The stupidity of overconfident Flash Rogue.”
