10 worst Marvel movies ever made, ranked
1. Howard The Duck
Honestly this movie still feels like a fever dream. Like, did that really happen?
Would you believe that Howard the Duck was actually the first ever theatrical release for a movie starring a Marvel Comics character? True story.
Released in 1986, it starred Lea Thompson, Jeffrey Jones, and Tim Robbins, and that's about where the good things end. It was a critical and commercial flop, with audiences reviling the whole thing. Its script, story, special effects, and just about everything else were criticized and it's hard to argue against why. This was cheesy and dated for the 1980s and it's absolutely crazy to think that this was released after Superman: The Movie and just three years before Batman. But hey, the '80s were a strange time for superhero movies.
The talking duck has recently found his way back into the pop-culture conversation because of his appearances in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise (as well as a recent animated appearance in Marvel's What If...?) and that has naturally reignited the conversations surrounding this movie. It's a bit of a cult classic, but that doesn't make it good.
