WWE WrestleMania 40 live stream, matches, and predictions
By Mark Lynch
Even though World Wrestling Entertainment doesn’t take time off, WrestleMania can be considered the WWE’s season finale. It’s where the previous storylines collide on the biggest wrestling stage of the year. WrestleMania 40 may have the biggest stories of the year.
After being betrayed, Bayley takes on her former friend Iyo Sky for the WWE Women's Championship. Weeks of insults led to Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre battling for the World Heavyweight Champion with CM Punk on commentary. And, of course, there’s Cody Rhodes finishing his story against Roman Reigns. The addition of “The Final Boss” The Rock adds more drama to the already stacked weekend.
These are only some of the matches announced for the two-night premium live event. More matches and competitors could be added (WWE cards could change at the drop of a hat). If you’re a wrestling fan, you don’t want to miss WrestleMania 40. Here are the start times for WrestleMania 40, where to watch it, and predicted winners.
WWE WrestleMania 40 start time
Unlike most WWE premium live events, WrestleMania 40 is a two-night event. On both nights, the show kicks off at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7. If you’re watching on the West Coast, it will begin at 4:00 p.m. PT. If you’re watching in the UK, the event will begin at 12:00 a.m. BST.
WrestleMania 40 matches and predictions
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson & Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins
There is a major stipulation in this match. If Rhodes and Rollins win, The Bloodline will be barred from ringside during night two's main event between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. However, if The Rock and Roman Reigns win, it's Bloodline rules (meaning anything goes).
Cody Rhodes has been facing the Bloodline for over a year. The addition of The Rock is the icing on the cake. Now, Cody will have to defeat greater odds.
Winner: The Bloodline
WWE Women's Champion: Iyo Sky (champion) vs. Bayley
Now that Bayley is out of Damage CTRL, it’s time for her to destroy it. This will be Bayley’s WrestleMania moment. Sure, she’s won at Mania before, but now she’ll come out on top in a 1-on-1 match and become champion. This has the potential to be one of the best matches of night one.
Winner: Bayley
Six-Pack Ladder Match for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship: Awesome Truth vs. New Catch Republic vs. DIY vs. The New Day vs. Grayson Waller and Austin Theory vs. The Judgment Day (champions)
WWE fans have been happy to see R-Truth return to action. He’s been his typical fun self, but now it’s time for something more. People forget that Truth is an elite performer. A match like this is the perfect opportunity to remind everyone that Truth is great.
Winner: Awesome Truth
United States Championship match: Logan Paul (champion) vs. Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens
This is Kevin Owens’ night. He’s been on a losing streak during premium live events usually thanks to Logan Paul. That's why KO comes out on top. Hopefully, this leads to a feud between him and Randy Orton.
Winner: Kevin Owens
Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee vs. Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio
Simple and to the point. Rey won the first time they fought (WrestleMania 39), and now it’s Dominik’s turn. This will lead to a third and final match between the Mysterios. This will be a retirement match for Rey Mysterio. There’s no better way for him to go out than wrestling his son.
Winner: Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio
LA Knight vs. AJ Styles
LA Knight needs this victory more than AJ Styles. Not just from a career standpoint. Styles flew to Australia to make sure LA Knight didn’t win. It's hilarious but rude and LA Knight owes him for that. Plus, the fans love LA Knight.
Winner: LA Knight (YEAH!)
Damage CTRL (Asuka, Dakota Kai, Kairi Sane) vs Naomi, Bianca Belair, and Jade Cargill
Jade Cargill will get the win. There’s no other way this ends. Bianca Belair and Naomi have had their WrestleMania moments, this is Jade’s first premium live event.
Winner: Jade Cargill, Naomi, and Bianca Belair
Intercontinental Championship match: Gunther (champion) vs. Sami Zayn
Sami Zayn is the biggest WWE underdog since Rey Mysterio and Kofi Kingston. It isn’t about his size. Zayn has been counted out of matches his entire WWE career and continues to fight. After everything he’s gone through, he should win this match. Beyond that, it’s time for Gunther to make a world title push.
Winner: Sami Zayn
Women’s World Championship match: Rhea Ripley (champion) vs. Becky Lynch
I could be predicting with my heart instead of logic. Becky Lynch hasn’t held a WWE title in a while. If there was a way to put her back on top, beating Rhea Ripley will do it. However, Rhea losing wouldn’t make sense. Next to Roman and The Rock, she’s the hottest superstar in the WWE. Plus, Mami is always on top.
Winner: Rhea Ripley
World Heavyweight Championship match: Seth Rollins (champion) vs. Drew McIntyre
This one is tough. It would make sense for Drew McIntyre to win this match, but there are two factors.
First, CM Punk is at ringside. Punk may not like Seth, but he despises Drew. If Punk is going to interfere, he will attack Drew. Second, don’t forget about Damian Priest. He’s "Señor Money in the Bank" and hasn’t cashed in. Seth could have this match won until Judgment Day’s music hit.
Winner: Seth Rollins
Jey Uso vs. Jimmy Uso
This is a dream match for Jimmy and Jey. In real life, they’ve discussed wanting to have this match. Amazingly, it’s finally happening. The build-up to this has been fantastic and the match will be as well. The fans love Jey, but Jimmy will come out on top.
Winner: Jimmy Uso
Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns (champion) vs. Cody Rhodes
After the Bloodline wins on night one, Cody’s back will be against the wall more than ever. Thankfully, there’s no way he’ll be on his own. Look for interferences on both sides to help even the odds. Once that happens, the Roman Empire will be over. This will lead to a feud between Roman and The Rock.
Winner: "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes
Match of the weekend predictions
- Emotional match of the weekend: Jimmy vs Jey Uso
- "Oh snap" match of the weekend: Six-pack tag-team ladder match
- Match of the weekend: Sami Zayn vs Gunther
- Moment of the weekend: Cody Rhodes defeating Roman Reigns
- Entrance of the weekend: The Rock
- Breakout of the weekend: Jade Cargill
