Prime Video’s Invincible completed its third season with a heck of a finale. Mark Grayson (a.k.a. Invincible) has the toughest fight of his life with a Viltrumite named Conquest. Conquest is a warrior whose need for violence is excessively creepy. Even worse was that Mark had to watch as he killed his girlfriend, Eve. Luckily, her abilities resurrect her. She immediately shoots Conquest with her powers, and Mark finishes the job.
Things get worse for Mark on a professional and personal level. Cecil Stedman lies to him about Conquest being alive, Damien Darkblood plots something dark with one of the lords of Hell, and Mark has sworn to kill anyone who threatens his family.
Season 4 should get into everything that was mentioned and more, but that’s not the end of Invincible’s story. Not by a long shot. Thankfully, fans can rest easy knowing that the show has already been renewed for a fifth season.
The video above shows the cast having a blast between voice acting. Among them is Walter Goggins, sounding ecstatic about the fifth season renewal. Another happy moment from the video came when Matthew Rhys appeared, and we discovered he will be part of season 4.
Because Matthew Rhys is an accomplished actor who won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (The Americans), and the announcement of his casting came in a video about season 5 of Invincible, we can assume he’ll have an important role to play. Since the casting staff has been spot on with voice actors thus far, there’s no reason to doubt them now. And when Rhys brings Dinosaurus to life, we'll all be amazed at his talents.
More Invincible news
Skybound has been smart about riding the wave with Invincible. For example, each season has scenes that have brilliantly inspired Funko Pops or Youtooz. Considering most of those moments are violent fight sequences, it’s a great way for people to spend money on something they love without it being too cheesy.
Second, the comic book universe continues with the Invincible creators Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley. They’ve returned to tell the story of Battle Beast when he left Earth after easily defeating the Guardians of the Globe (Invincible No. 19). Some of you know how this story ends, but not what happened in between. So far, this has been a heck of a ride with a ton of violence and humor.
Lastly, and maybe the most exciting, Mark Grayson, Atom Eve, Rex Splode, and more are coming together for a 3 vs 3 fighting game called Invincible VS. So far, it looks like Marvel vs Capcom 3, but with the creative and bloody attacks you’d expect from the game.
It also looks like we’ll see more than just the recurring characters in Invincible VS. With that in mind, it’s easy to guess that Battle Beast, Thula, and Dinosaurus will appear. And, with the release of he game set for 2026 (the same year that season 4 comes out), the announcement of Grand Regent Thragg being a character in the game should coincide with him appearing on the show. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to find out if that happens.
