Carnage is known for being one of the most sadistic Marvel villains ever created, and with good reason. This frightening creature is usually the combination of two different beings: A serial killer in the form of Cletus Kasady and the twisted offspring of the Venom symbiote. Together, they make for a perfect recipe of disaster and death. However, they were recently forced to part ways, with the symbiote needing to find a new host to stay alive. Unfortunately (depending on how you see it), that's when Eddie Brock came into the picture.
Eddie Brock: Carnage (2025) is Marvel's latest comic book series featuring the unhinged supervillain. However, the biggest difference this time around is that the symbiote's "other half" is actually sane. Eddie does his best to only chase prey who deserve to be hunted, keep collateral damage to a minimum, and even save lives along the way. However, his good intentions haven't always amounted to something, as the very first issue of he saga proved.
Eddie and the Carnage symbiote were hunting for a serial killer who was hiding somewhere on a plane. Unfortunately for everyone on board, the bad guy turned out to be one of the pilots who decided to sabotage the aircraft before being relentlessly killed by Carnage. Eddie quickly reacted to this emergency and grabbed every single passenger with the help of the symbiote before jumping off and gliding to safety. For a split second, it seemed as if Brock had saved dozens of lives, but just when his guard was low, the Carnage symbiote took over his body and held everyone else hostage.
So what happened next? Well, nobody was quite sure. Not even Eddie. The F.B.I. started to look for the missing people of the Oceanic 814 flight, while the Carnage symbiote refused to reveal their whereabouts. Everyone feared the worst, and comic book readers were kept in the dark for many months. Fortunately, we now know the fates of those who were kidnapped by the most derranged creature in existence.
Carnage saved all the passengers of a flight and kept them alive
Eddie Brock: Carnage (2025) No. 5 is finally here, and it answered the biggest question of the series. After Eddie literally lit himself and the Carnage symbiote on fire to make the latter talk, he finally learned the whereabouts of the passengers of the Oceanic 814 flight. Immediately afterward, he gave this information to an F.B.I. team led by Misty Knight in hopes that they could do something.
Misty and Eddie went to search for the missing people, and they were finally close to putting an end to this whole situation. However, something felt off. Eddie himself said it was weird for Carnage not to threaten to kill all the passengers before they could be rescued. The symbiote was quick to mention that perhaps they were already dead, but much to everyone's surprise, that wasn't the case. The survivors were all just trapped in a cave, in a state of "suspension". Misty woke them all up and quickly called for backup. As simple as that, a mystery five months in the making finally came to an end.
Personally, I can't help but feel like there's more to the story. Did the Carnage symbiote really take over Eddie's body to save dozens of lives, keep their whereabouts a secret as leverage for a few weeks, and then simply let them get away? Granted, the creature has its back against the wall, which could make it act in unpredictable ways. After all, it's still weak after the events of Venom War (2024), and it needs a host to survive. However, it wouldn't be surprising to learn that this is just a part of a bigger plan.
When Eddie and Misty found all the missing passengers, they were wrapped in a lot of symbiote goo. Could Carnage have bonded with some of them, or left a piece of itself behind on any of these new prey? Well, there's only one way to figure it out.
Eddie Brock: Carnage (2025) No. 6 will be released on July 16, 2025.
