Season 3 of School Spirits didn’t walk into the season finale. It sprinted. The penultimate episode of the Paramount Plus series dropped some bombshells on the audience that made sure that viewers would tune into the last episode of the season. Among them is the fact that Dr. Deborah Hunter-Price (played by Jennifer Tilly) has been working with Claire’s father and paid her a finder’s fee for getting the school closed.

Another thing involving Dr. Hunter-Price is that she's starting to unravel. Now that Kyle is back in his body, he doesn’t know about the deal that the previous spirit in his body (Van Heidt) made with her. What’s worse for Dr. Hunter-Price is that her daughter (Livia) saw her mother telling Kyle that she’d lose her name, family, and reputation. Then, Deb had an unhinged moment, saying that she'd "mow that f***ing school down all by my damn self."

In happier news, Mr. Martin learned something that should give viewers hope. He saw that the kids who drowned in the Split River Flood moved on. Since it was previously thought that the Forgotten were stuck in scars forever, it’s good to know that there’s a chance for all ghosts to get to the next stage of existence. It gave everyone hope for Simon, who disappeared in the previous episode. However, it also made Wally think the only way to help Simon is to go through his door to his next stage in life.

What to expect in the School Spirits season 3 finale

Each episode title of School Spirits has double meanings. The first are nods to a show or movie, while the second hints at what’s going to happen. In this case, "Dawn of the Deb" suggests that Dr. Deborah Hunter-Price will either suffer consequences for her actions or become even more nefarious in season 4. I’d guess the latter since Nicole, Clair, and Xavier have a way to save the school. Unfortunately, their plan revolves around the help of Principal Hartman.

At the end of the previous episode, Maddie saw the red light representing her scar, and then a white light coming from a door for her to cross over. Neither should be seen since she's alive. Nevertheless, Maddie went through the door, and then the episode ended.

If I had to guess, Maddie will see both Simon and Wally, but I think the finale will be the last we’ll see of the former star football player. Wally got the option of crossing over last season, and his talk with Rhonda in this episode makes it seem like the writers were preparing viewers for his departure. It would be a sad moment, but it would make for a great scene. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to find out if that's the case.
