Spider-Man: Brand New Day is easily one of the most anticipated movies of 2026. The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film will bring back Tom Holland as the webslinger in a new story that will potentially launch a new trilogy for Spidey. It's currently gearing up to shoot in the UK, so there have been a number of announcements about the movie over the past few months. Now, it has just been reported that Brett Pawlak will serve as the film’s cinematographer.

Pawlak previously worked as the cinematographer on films such as The Wannabe, Max Steele, Unicorn Store, Life Itself, and Instant Family, in addition to shooting TV shows such as This is Us and Next. He is also no stranger to the MCU, as he worked as the director of photography on several episodes of the upcoming Wonder Man TV series (which will premiere on Disney Plus in December). With such an impressive body of work to his name, Pawlak will no doubt do an impressive job of bringing Spider-Man’s latest big-screen outing to visual life.

Although plot details are scarce, we do know that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will take place after the devastating events of 2021's Spider-Man- No Way Home, with the world forgetting that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, and Peter himself also being erased from the memories of those he cares about, thanks to Doctor Strange’s spell. Tom Holland will return as Peter, with other returning cast members including Jacob Batalon and Zendaya as Ned Leeds and MJ (although it's unclear how substantial their roles might be). Newcomers Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas also set to appear in mystery roles.

It was also recently announced that Jon Bernthal will appear as the MCU version of the Punisher in the film, making this the first time that Frank Castle and Peter Parker have encountered each other in live-action. Bernthal just recently made his official MCU debut as the character in Daredevil: Born Again (although he previously played the role in the original Daredevil series and The Punisher for Netflix, both of which are now considered canon to the franchise).

The film will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who also helmed films such as The Glass Castle, Just Mercy, and the MCU’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, with Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers providing the screenplay, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige returning to produce.

We do not have very long to wait before we can experience Spider-Man: Brand New Day for ourselves, as it will be released on July 31, 2026. And it will no doubt prove to be a massive hit with critics and audiences.
