The latest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to feature the wall-crawler, Spider-Man: No Way Home, shattered expectations by bringing together all three iterations of Peter Parker on the big screen. However, the excitement we all felt while watching the movie was unfortunately followed by years of silence and waiting.
Very few could've anticipated it would take almost five years for one of Marvel's most popular characters to get another sequel. At this point, Avengers: Doomsday will hit screens before Spidey's fourth stand-alone adventure, which is saying something. Unfortunately, it seems we'll have to wait even longer than anticipated for Peter to have the spotlight to his own again... but not too much.

Spider-Man 4 will be released on July 31, 2026
Originally slated for Jul. 24, 2026, Spider-Man 4 will be pushed back a week later to Jul. 31, 2026, as reported by Deadline. But why have such a small pushback in the first place? Well, so that Spidey's upcoming release doesn't have such fierce competition.
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey will be released on Jul. 17, 2026, meaning Spider-Man 4 would've originally arrived just one week later. At this point, it's well-known that audiences will show up to any movie directed by the mastermind behind The Dark Knight and Inception (and with good reason, as his movies are nothing short of amazing). Had Spider-Man 4 kept its initial release date, then it would've clashed with another box office giant. While Barbenheimer proved two very different movies can both be successful even when sharing the same premiere date, Marvel likely didn't want to take any chances.
There's been a lot of recent reports claiming that Spider-Man 4's script isn't finished yet. Tom Holland himself said back in October 24 that the story still needed more work, and that it was a tall order to release the movie in such a short period of time. On that same note, many reports indicated that a possible delay to Christmas 2026 was on the cards. So the official news that we'll have to wait only one week more than anticipated is very reassuring. Production will start in the Summer of 2025, as originally scheduled, and shooting will take place in London.
Tom Holland has a very busy calendar ahead of him, as he'll star in both Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, and Spider-Man 4. As if that wasn't enough, the British star will also have a role to play in Avengers: Doomsday which is arriving in 2026 as well. Due to these scheduling conflicts, it's being reported that a stunt double will film most of Spider-Man's scenes for Earth's Mightiest Heroes next movie, while Tom will show up only for the absolutely necessary shots. Besides, once the dust is "settled", we still have Avengers: Secret Wars to look forward in which Spidey will also make an appearance.
On the bright side, this means we'll see a lot of the wall-crawler in the upcoming years after being noticeably absent from any MCU project since No Way Home. And while it's best to keep our expectations in check, new reports indicate he'll show up even sooner during the events of Daredevil: Born Again, eventually leading to a big team-up between him and the Devil of Hell''s Kitchen. So fingers crossed all the upcoming movies and series featuring the iconic web-slinging hero are as memorable as they can be!
