The Marvel Cinematic Universe has had its Spider-Man since 2016, but what it didn’t have for some time was the ultimate couple until Zendaya and Tom Holland became it. And lovingly, of course, co-star Jacob Batalon says he had something to do with it.
Batalon has played Ned, Peter Parker's best friend, since Spider-Man: Homecoming. Now, with the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Batalon was asked a question by Variety on the red carpet via a video from X: Could he have ever imagined ten years ago that Zendaya and Holland would have been married?
The actor playfully said, “Oh, I don’t know about that — I mean, I kind of made it happen for them, so!”
Huh? Excuse me, Batalon, I would love to know the story of how you brought Holland and Zendaya together! Don’t just leave out the details and then laugh! You can check out the video below:

On a real note, Batalon has been a close friend of Holland’s since the first movie was released, and considering that Holland and Zendaya have been an item for some time, I wouldn’t be surprised if there actually was some truth to this statement somehow. But as for now, it’s just a playful joke that Batalon said. Considering Holland and Zendaya are married now, I’d say that if he did have something to do with it, it worked out for the better.
Even so, Batalon has been the center of memes specifically surrounding himself, like “The CEO of S*x” that we’ve seen online again and again. It’s kind of a completely random piece of internet humor, but one that I enjoy nonetheless and will connect to this with a grin on my face.
With Brand New Day, however, this will most likely be the last time we see Peter Parker as Spider-Man. While it hasn’t been confirmed yet, there have been rumors around that this will be his last, and that most likely means Ned won’t appear again—the idea of Ned as Hobgoblin is slowly fading from our minds.
While that is sad, we can at least head to theaters to see him one last time as “the man in the chair.” Or rather, someone who used to be in the chair but is now a stranger to Peter Parker. Either way, Marvel will never be the same.
If you haven’t seen the film yet, here are four major plot points that you should know before you go and see it. And, if you’re lucky enough to have watched Brand New Day already, we have an ending breakdown for you as well — and how the next phase of the MCU is about to get crazy.
