Throughout the day, Spidey fans and cosplayers have been unveiling new clips from the trailer - each one offering up a new tease from the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. And one of the most recent releases has understandably received the biggest reaction of all.

Peter and MJ reunite in new Spider-Man: Brand New Day teaser
A brand new clip from the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer has surfaced online and it features the first official look at Zendaya's return to the MCU. The star, of course, plays Michelle Jones Watson, a.k.a. MJ Watson, in the franchise and she will indeed reprise her role in the upcoming movie. Watch the clip of her return here:

This is the shortest clip of the trailer thus far, which isn't surprising considering that the image alone is more than enough to intrigue audiences. After all, we've all been wondering what Peter Parker and MJ's reunion in the upcoming film might look like. This at least gives us an idea of that.
It is worth pointing out, however, that Peter is still wearing his mask here. So, in essence, MJ isn't meeting Peter here; she's crossing paths with Spider-Man. And that could complicate things pretty quickly. See, Peter has been attempting to move on from the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which he asked Doctor Strange to cast a spell to erase Peter Parker from the memories of everyone. That included the minds of girlfriend MJ and best friend Ned Leeds.
However, nobody forgot about Spider-Man - just who he was behind the mask. As a result, the webslinger has used his abilities and heroics as a way to forget the heartache of his relationship with MJ coming to an end. If he ends up crossing paths with her while doing that, it will undoubtedly bring all of those memories and feelings flooding back to him. But, if we're being honest, they probably haven't left him either.

MJ is clearly the love of Perer's life but he decided to let her go in the conclusion of the previous movie. Her heart of gold was on full show when she became his fearless warrior, defending him during the controversy over his secret identity getting revealed to the world, but she was struggling due to her association with him. Therefore, when she and Ned had their memories wiped of Peter's existence, he decided to do the opposite of what they agreed: Not telling her the truth.
When they crossed paths in that coffee shop, there was a connection, a moment, a spark. But Peter decided not to reveal the truth, feeling that both her and Ned's lives would be better off without the knowledge of his secret life as Spider-Man. Thus, he left them to their own lives and retreated into superheroism full time.
The question is: Has Peter been keeping up MJ's life from afar, or will their unanticipated reunion in Spider-Man: Brand New Day be the first time either one of them sees the other since then. We'll probably have to wait and see the movie for that answer, but the full length trailer might give us more of an idea when it releases tomorrow.
The Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer has an official release date of March 18, 2026.
