He's done whatever a spider can countless times before, and he's ready to do it once again. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be Peter Parker's next adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (provided that he doesn't show up in Avengers: Doomsday first), and anticipation couldn't be any higher.

After the wall-crawler teamed up with multiversal variants of himself to stop the "Sinister Five", everyone is eager to learn what type of movie we're getting next. Will we witness yet another multiversal tale (as it had been heavily reported)? Or will the character go back to its roots and be the star of a street-level story? Fortunately, we might finally have an answer, and it came in the most unexpected way possible.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day was seemingly discussed during the Disney Blockbuster Consumer Products presentation. The villains of the movie were reportedly revealed, and they are ideal candidates for a grounded narrative. Furthermore, a new promotional image unveiled what seems to be Peter's brand-new suit in his brand-new saga. But is it the wall-crawler really getting a new look, or is this design just a stand-in? Well, it's time we break it all down!

Scorpion and more villains will reportedly appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Instagram user Chris Higashi got the chance to attend the Disney Blockbuster Consumer Products presentation, and they took a few pictures of promotional material. One of those images (which can be viewed here) showcases the wall-crawler in a suit that looks completely different from the one Peter crafted at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Does that mean that this is our very first look at Brand New Day? Well, not exactly. Disney instead used an old Spider-Man render for the promotional material, as pointed out by Twitter user Spider-Man News. However, we can't help but wonder: Why didn't Marvel show Tom Holland in his latest home-made suit, if they don't intend to change it moving forward?

Given that Destin Daniel Cretton is set to direct a brand new chapter in the wall-crawler's story, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume a new costume will also help differentiate this iteration of the character from the one Jon Watts previously crafted. This could be the reason why a "stand-in" design was used for the presentation.

Furthermore, Chris Higashi gave a very exciting hint of what was discussed in the Disney showcase regarding Spider-Man: Brand New Day: "Scorpion, Boomerang and Tombstone, ‘Nuff Said". After fighting the Sinister Five, you'd imagine Peter Parker would get a bit of an easier time moving forward. However, this is the "Parker luck" we're talking about. It seems the wall-crawler will face yet another group of antagonists, all of whom are perfect for a street-level storyline.

Lonnie Lincoln—better known as Toomstone in the criminal underworld—was recently at the center of the spotlight in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Audiences watched him toss aside his promising football career to slowly become the leader of the 110th Street Gang. Granted, he isn't a full-on supervillain in the animated series yet, but it seems the live-action adaptation will portray him as one. Furthermore, Michael Mando portrayed the role of Mac Gargan in Spider-Man: Homecoming, with the post-credits scene hinting that he'd become the Scorpion in the near future. It only took nine years, but it seems that promise will finally become a reality.

Additionally, Fred Myers was a former baseball player who instead decided to have a life of crime as Boomerang after being suspended from the professional sports scene. He's worked for multiple supervillains (such as the Kingpin) and even became a member of the Thunderbolts. While he isn't one of Spidey's most popular or beloved villains, he often makes for a fearless henchman, speaking of which.... Could Toomstone, Scorpion, and Boomerang be working for someone else? They could act as villains-for-hire, much like the Enforcers on comic book pages.

Reports indicated that the main antagonist of Spider-Man: Brand New Day would be none other than Mr. Negative, a supervillain who made his comic book debut in—you've guessed it—the Spider-Man: Brand New Day storyline. Martin Li has acted as the leader of multiple criminal organizations and has recruited many villains under his command as well. So maybe Scorpion, Boomerang, and Toombstone will be working for him in the movie. Could there be a connection between this criminal family with The Kingpin? Maybe that's what that Daredevil: Born Again Spider-Man easter egg was hinting at.

As reported by reliable industry insider, Daniel Richtman, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will begin filming in August. So it's just a matter of time before we get some official casting announcements and perhaps even set photos. Hopefully, Tombstone, Scorpion, and Boomerang will all be there.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on July 31, 2026.
