B. Reilly Investigations is almost open for business. For the first time in five years, The Spider will jump back into action and handle any unsolved cases of missing persons or, say, mysterious fires set ablaze in the houses of infamous mob bosses. Fret not, because this private investigator will also ensure that any loose ends are taken care of, as he isn't afraid to use guns or take lives. Mark your calendars, because the big opening day is nearly here.

Spider-Noir is upon us. The MGM+ and Prime Video series will be unlike anything Spider-Man fans have seen in any live-action project yet. Peter Parker won't be the hero of this tale, as Ben Reilly will take his place (and even then, I'm not sure you'll be able to call him a "hero"). Audiences will explore a grim version of New York set during the Great Depression, where crime is rampant, and just one man is able to impart justice. No one is quite sure what Marvel has in store for us, but we don't have to wonder for too long.

What to expect from Spider-Noir on Prime Video

Spider-Noir will tell the story of Ben Reilly, a private investigator who used to wear a mask and act as a vigilante called The Spider, but eventually decided to leave those days behind him. However, Ben's days of living in the shadows will come to an end when a new, twisted case forces him right back into the action.

Mob boss Finn Byrne (better known as Silvermane) has recently been the subject of many assassination attempts, one of which involved the burning of his mansion. At the same time, Flint Marko (who is on Silvermane's payroll) has gone missing. It is then that Flint's romantic interest, Cat Hardy, seeks Ben Reilly's help to solve this tangled web of mysteries.

Audiences can expect a very mature show, as Spider-Noir has been rated TV-14. That is the highest rating any Spider-Man show has ever received, which means things are about to get darker than usual. That's not surprising, considering this iteration of the wall-crawler isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and kill someone. In the source material, he really likes to use guns.

Although we'll watch the journey of someone who isn't Peter Parker, plenty of iconic and recognizable Spider-Man characters are involved in the mix. Daily Bugle's Robbie Robertson is set to play a major part in this tale, while villains like Black Cat, Sandman, Tombstone, and Silvermane will wreak havoc in New York City.

Early reviews have been extremely positive, as the series currently sits at a 91% approval score on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics praise the show's stylized visuals, the dialogue between characters, and Nicolas Cage's portrayal of Ben Reilly. Furthermore, the VFX also appears to be a standout, so there's plenty to look forward to.

The last time the wall-crawler was the star of his own live-action show was in 1978, so expectations are at an all-time high for him to take over this form of media once more. Fortunately, such a big comeback is bound to happen soon.

All eight episodes of Spider-Noir will be released on May 27 on Prime Video.
