After introducing the key characters in the premiere, Spider-Noir season 1, episode 2, picks up where the premiere ended as Cat brings Ben up to speed on Flint’s disappearance. While Flint is her bodyguard, she’s not incredibly helpful in sharing information about his personal life and only knows his address. Janet mentions Flint turning into a sand monster, as Cat reveals it started a few months ago and has been slowly getting worse. Ben asks if she has any clues about what’s going on, as she quips that he’s an investigator and should investigate. Cat heads out and tells Ben to get to work as she leaves, advice he takes as he leaves for Flint’s apartment as Janet heads out to track down some information at the precinct.

We cut to Silvermane, who is meeting with Winston about meeting with a new Canadian supplier at the docks. Winston thinks it’s a bad idea to go out in public until they can find who wants to kill him and wants to check the docks out first to make sure everything is good. Silvermane mentions Flint disappearing and acting strange, and he also makes it clear he wants Ben brought straight to him. Silvermane rejects the idea at first but eventually comes around to it.

Ben arrives at Flint’s place and slips inside the apartment. He begins going through the place looking for information and finds a box of postcards from France, which includes a photo of an army unit featuring Flint and Addison. Ben hears a knock at the door as Winston announces himself and enters the apartment with one of Silvermane’s goons as Ben hides in the closet. He spots his hat on the table and uses his web to pull it into the closet, which catches Winston’s attention. He tries to open the door, but Winston leaves before he finds Ben hiding in the closet.

While Ben didn’t get too much from the visit to the apartment outside of the photo, Janet’s contact at the police was able to pull information about Flint, which reveals he grew up in Brooklyn and had several arrests, and Ben interjects to note how he’s working with Silvermane. At this point in the investigation, Ben and Janet question whether Cat knew about Addison and hid it from them.

Ben heads down to The Alcove and finds Cat playing an original at the piano. He informs her about his visit to the apartment and shows her the photo of Flint among his fellow soldiers in the army. She admits she knew he was in the war. He asks about Addison, and Cat denies knowing him. Ben reveals that he’s the man who burned down Silvermane's place and that he’s dead now, as is the P.I. who tracked him down. Silvermane owns The Alcove, and the club lives or dies by Cat’s performances. Cat is fascinated by Ben admitting he’s interesting and braver than he lets on. She notes that she has business with Silvermane and with Ben, but one has nothing to do with the other. Ben assures her he’ll keep working the case as he heads out.

When he leaves the building, we see Flint looking down over him from across the way, his face now partially transformed into sand. He then looks longingly at Cat in her apartment.

Ben gets back to his apartment, and his spidey-sense goes off. Two men try to knock him out, and he tries to use his webs to defend himself but is surprised to find his powers aren’t working. He throws a toaster at one man, but it proves useless as the men begin beating Ben and then take him away. Ben assures the goons he knows nothing about Addison, which is when Ben sees an opening and takes it. He punches the man in the back seat sitting next to him, which allows him the opportunity to jump out of the car and evade the men by hiding under the bridge.

Mayor Morris is on the campaign trail, telling citizens they’ll rise above the tide as Ben and Robbie watch from the back of the crowd. Robbie asks Ben about his bruising, and Ben encourages him to tread lightly on the Addison story. Mayor Morris promises to end prohibition if they vote for him, as Robbie encourages Ben to suit up again and do the city a favor in the process. Robbie makes it clear he’s not going to drop the Addison story as they part ways.

Following his chat with Ben, Robbie chases down a lead looking for the Addisons. He enters a rundown home looking for Mrs. Addison and begins looking through the place as a man enters and confronts Robbie. Robbie asks the man if he knows where Vera Addison is, as he’s working a story about James Addison’s death and wants to talk to his widow. The man is surprised to hear that Addison has died and asks why Robbie is writing about him. Robbie informs him that Addison burned down Silvermane’s house as he notices a melted chair in the room, which is when the man tells him it’s time for Robbie to leave. The man tells Robbie that Addison was sick and that he doesn’t know who hired him, but his wife might as he points him to the Geoffrey Hotel.

At Ben’s office, Silvermane’s men are ransacking the place and holding Janet at gunpoint. They leave just as Ben arrives and finds Janet inside cleaning up. Janet reveals that the men threatened to kill her. Janet says she’s waited five years for the old Ben to come back out, and Ben encourages her to head home and get some rest. Janet says she’s going home, but she’s not coming back; she cares about him deeply, but not enough to die for him.

Ben takes a car to a building and disguises himself as a maintenance man coming to help with a leak. Ben heads into the bathroom and uses a wrench to break open the wall. Inside there is a small trunk which Ben opens. Inside is his Spider suit and he flees the room before the couple enters the room to find the hole in the wall and Ben gone.

The Spider returns and ends up making a major mistake

Following his conversation with the mystery man at Addison’s place, Robbie chases his lead and heads up to the room to speak with Mrs. Addison. She tries to slam the door in his face and threatens to scream, but Robbie points out that she wouldn’t want the most dangerous man in the city to know her husband tried to kill him. Robbie informs her that James died, but she doesn’t shed a tear. She mentions how he started to set fires six months ago as he found he had an innate talent for it. She doesn’t offer up any information about who hired him though

The man Robbie met goes to see Flint and tells him that James is dead and that a reporter came looking around asking about who hired him to kill Silvermane. Flint is looking worse as he tells the man that this time he changed completely and never changed back all the way. The other man mentions the doc telling them they didn’t have long as he suggests Flint stay with him, as it’s better to stick together.

As the episode draws to a close, Winston checks out the docks, and all seems good, so he gives Silvermane the go-ahead to come down for the meeting. While driving to the meet, they spot the Spider swinging in behind them. He takes out the men in the car ahead as Silvermane orders the men in his car to shoot the Spider. The men open fire on the Spider and he quickly takes them out one by one.

The Spider enters the car with Silvermane, and he wonders who hired him. The Spider notes that he owes Ben a favor and he wants Silvermane and his goons to stand down. The Spider makes it clear this is his only warning: If he messes with Ben or his people again, he will kill him. He exits and returns to the office as a phone call comes through from Robbie, who asks him if he stopped Silvermane's car. It turns out cops were looking to catch Silvermane in the act, but he never showed. It seems Ben's meeting ruined the bust.
