Spider-Noir season 1, episode 3, ended with quite the cliffhanger after Silvermane killed Winston and then turned his gun on an unknown individual with a gunshot going off as the episode ended.

As episode 4 opens, we jump ahead slightly to Cat performing at The Alcove as we see Ben with Silvermane and learn that it was Gio who he shot. Seems Silvermane bought the story Ben sold him with no questions, but he’s not done searching for answers. While he caught this rat, he’s planning on talking to the police chief tomorrow to try to get answers on why he ran the raid when he’s supposed to be in his pocket.

After her performance, Cat asks Silvermane if he has any regrets about almost killing her, and he sends her away to get some whiskey to keep celebrating. Cat puts on a brave face in front of Silvermane, but when she returns to her apartment later, she collapses to the floor in tears.

Janet is fielding calls from the Mayor’s office as Ben stumbles into the office the morning after drinking with Silvermane. Elsewhere, Silvermane comes to visit Cat to ask how she’s doing, and Cat assures him all is good. Silvermane notes that Winston was the rat, but that doesn’t explain why she was at the train station. Cat tells him to ask Winston as Silvermane admits that he would have killed her if the P.I. had told him she was the rat. Cat says she was terrified because he was unhinged and that said Ben wasn’t there with her but was watching her for Silvermane. He must have figured she was in on it until Ben put it together that Winston was trying to frame her.

Janet is working with Freddie on trying to teach him lessons as a call comes through from Cat, who requests Ben meet her at The Calypso. Ben goes to meet and sees Cat and she tells him about the story she told Silvermane and notes he’ll start asking questions about the raid. Ben asks why she tried to kill Silvermane, and she notes this isn’t the place to tell the story.

Cat opens up to Ben about how she came to work for Silvermane

Cat takes Ben to an empathy theater where she used to perform before Silvermane came to offer her the headline position at a new club. She admits she didn’t see the strings at first, but they got thick as rope as the years went by. She was never involved with Silvermane; he just gets off on power and controlling what she wears, who she’s around, and what she does.

She tells Ben about a man named Thomas who began coming to the club night after night, a dentist, who eventually wore her down. He was kind, and kindness was something new to her. After about a year, he proposed to her, and she said yes. After Thomas suddenly stopped coming by, she thought she did something wrong but later found out that Silvermane had him killed, as he wanted to make sure she never made the same mistake again.

Ben points out how she made the mistake again with Flint and she says she thought she’d give them both a second chance, but Silvermane would have to be out of the picture first. She mentions that Flint and Addison were war buddies and that it wasn’t hard to convince Addison to kill Silvermane until he botched the job. Then the Spider ruined her second try. As she’s telling Ben this, Flint comes in and overhears the latter part of her conversation.

After killing time talking with a man on the street peddling cigarettes, Robbie follows a man serving meals to vets, which eventually leads him to an alleyway where the man hands off a meal to Lonnie. Robbie tells Lonnie the story they printed wasn’t the one he gave them and asks to talk.

Cat and Ben head off in a car together as Cat admits to Ben that she doesn't think she can be alone tonight, and Ben asks the driver to turn the car around to go back downtown.

Flint goes to see Silvermane and tells him he was laying low. Silvermane is happy to have him back and tells him about Winston being the traitor. The news surprises Flint as his face begins to turn, and Silvermane reminds him he’s always been loyal and he’s welcome here, though they have a fight coming. Flint assures him he’s ready for whatever he needs.

Robbie brings Lonnie to Ben’s office and asks him about his powers and where he got them. Robbie tries to get him to open up, but Lonnie remains silent, so Janet deals some cards. As they play cards, Janet asks Lonnie about his locket, which has an "H" on it. He lets her know it stands for Helen, his mom’s name. Robbie tells Lonnie about his brother who was a POW and Lonnie admits that the Germans got him too, and Robbie questions whether they did something to them. Lonnie mentions Doc Faber can explain things better than him, but once they transform, it’s hard to turn back.

Ben takes Cat back to his place and pours them a drink as they take a seat at the table. He tells her there was this girl, a smart, fun girl. Her name was Ruby, and they were happy. He did a job with a deadbeat husband who ended up doing hard crime and was set on revenge. He doesn’t know how he knew he was close to Ruby, but he did, and he killed her that night, but Ben was too busy getting drunk across town to know she was in danger, and he got there too late. He killed her to make him suffer; this man killed her, but he’s the reason she’s dead, as she’d still be alive if she hadn’t met him.

Silvermane crashes a dinner between the Mayor and the chief of police, who skipped his weekly check-in lunch the previous day. Silvermane suggests he’ll replace the Mayor and the Mayor suggests that Silvermane would be dumb to think he would go quietly. Silvermane reminds him that every four years he decides who will sit in the chair, as the Mayor suggests that he still has cards to play and that Silvermane had a good run. Silvermane introduces Flint, who steps forward and breaks the table with one fell swoop. The show of power doesn’t scare off the Mayor, who makes it clear that he’s not backing down.

Cat learns Ben's secret in an unexpected way

Cat suggests he saved her because he couldn’t save Ruby, but he says he did it because he didn’t want to feel worse. He admits he feels alone, and she takes his hand and tells him that they can be alone together. Ben asks Cat where she was planning on going, and she tells him about her dream of going to Santorini. Cat says she didn’t picture this as he leans in for a kiss as a news alert comes through about a monster terrorizing the Diamond District, and she knows it has to be Flint. She tries to get Ben to come along to help him, but he tells her to go. He refuses as she calls him a coward and storms out.

Ben calls Robbie and tells him to grab his camera and head down to the Diamond District as he suits up as the Spider and races down. To Spider’s surprise, it’s not Flint but another man with powers, electrical abilities, which he uses to shock the Spider.

The Spider and this new villain begin battling it out, and the Spider gets distracted when he sees Cat in the crowd. The man charges up using the electric box, but the Spider cuts the electricity. He goads the man into fighting, which slowly drains the charge and gives the Spider the chance to knock him out as the Mayor swoops in for a photo op, in which he orders Robbie to take a picture, and the Mayor announces that he and the Spider have teamed up to save the city.

Back at Ben’s apartment, he stretches out after his fight to rest as Cat arrives. Ben asks if they’re cool as Cat asks whether he wants to know what happens. She notices his face is bruised, and she asks him to tell her one thing: Is she right? She then falls backward out of the window, forcing Ben to prove to her that he’s the Spider. When he pulls her back into the window, she tells him, “Nice to meet you, Mr. Spider," and they kiss as the episode comes to a close.
