If you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe or just superhero movies, you must have enjoyed the trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Tom Holland and your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and it was a relief to welcome him back into our lives. He’s New York’s hero, was given a key to the city, and seems to be a better hero than when he was last seen. Sadly, everything isn’t all sunshine and quips for the wallcrawler. The trailer shows that there are a lot of villains in this movie.
Among the antagonists are Punisher, Boomerang, Scorpion, Tarantula, and a mysterious villain that’s yet to be revealed (who I think is the Spider-Queen played by Sadie Sink). Another set of villains seen is the deadly and enigmatic ninja death cult, The Hand, who are shown a couple of times towards the end of the trailer.
One of the images (that you can see in the thumbnail) shows Spidey and the Hand ninjas jumping at each other. But, if you look at the ninjas on the bottom, they aren’t going after Spider-Man. They seem to be going in another direction. This is reminiscent of No Way Home, when Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were taken out of the picture with members of the Sinister Six.
There could be a lot of people joining Spider-Man, like Iron Fist, Luke Cage, or Jessica Jones. But the question I have is why they’re going after Spider-Man. It’s not as if they have a connection or travel in the same circles. That is, unless something happens to Matt Murdock in season 2 of Born Again.

Daredevil has a long and violent past with the Hand. He’s fought them more times than anyone can remember and has died trying to extinguish their existence from the planet. Despite their rivalry, there was a time when Daredevil was their leader. It happened in Marvel Comics’ Shadowland event, and it was one of the darkest times for Matt Murdock. Considering everything he’s been through, that’s a bold (but true) statement.
Before Shadowland began, the Man Without Fear had another fight with Bullseye (who was an Avenger at the time). Instead of their fight ending with someone beaten, it stopped after Bullseye blew up a building with innocent people inside. This was enough to send Daredevil over the edge and try to use the Hand ninjas to protect Hell’s Kitchen. Unfortunately, the evil of the Beast corrupted and possessed him. Matt is eventually freed thanks to a bunch of heroes. Among them is Spider-Man.

In the MCU, Mayor Wilson Fisk has a stranglehold on New York. The police are corrupt and under his control, and there’s no end to his reign in sight. If Matt becomes desperate enough, he will join the Hand, thinking that this is the best way to protect Hell’s Kitchen. And it wouldn’t be unheard of for Wilson Fisk to send Bullseye to drive DD past the point of no return.
Fisk says he’s a man of the people, but he’s really just an uncaring monster with no regard for human life. Of course, he’d hire Bullseye to do something egregious. Or maybe Bullseye blows up a building because he hates Daredevil and Wilson Fisk, and the tragedy would be a two-for-one sale.
Fisk says he’s a man of the people, but he’s really just an uncaring monster with no regard for human life. If Matt does go evil, there’s one person who can bring him back to his senses, and that’s Spider-Man. It wouldn’t be shocking if Spidey gets through to him, and Daredevil is the person helping Spider-Man fight the Hand. Plus, with all of the supervillains attacking him, Spidey will need all the help he can get.
