More than three years had passed since audiences watched Spider-Man be the protagonist of a Marvel Cinematic Universe adventure until Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man recently changed that.
Even then, we're still a long way off from Tom Holland's next stand-alone movie, which will be released on Jul. 24, 2026, supposing the delay reports aren't actually true. It's a long wait, for sure, but one that might actually feel a little bit shorter considering that the wall-crawler will show up on a different MCU project even before than expected. That's right, true believers, there is another Spider-Man adventure to look forward to, and it's coming soon.
Spider-Man will appear in Marvel Zombies this year
Brad Winderbaum, the Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios, recently had a chance to talk with Critqal about Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. While discussing the voice cast, Brad revealed that the voice behind Peter Parker, Hudson Thames, will make a comeback later this year in Marvel Zombies.
"Hudson has been our animated voice for Spider-Man in the MCU so far in What If...?, in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and he also plays Spider-Man in Marvel Zombies which comes out Halloween time this year."
Marvel Zombies will feature no shortage of big Marvel heroes such as Scarlet Witch, Blade, Ironheart, Shang-Chi, Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop, and now Spider-Man. Furthermore, it will mark a big shift in tone for the House of Mouse due to its TV-MA rating, which will allow the show to be a bit darker than what we've come to expect from any MCU project. Even if there will be only four episodes released in total, we should expect them to go all-in and not hold back in the slightest.

Audiences first got a glimpse of a zombie storyline in the MCU thanks to What If...? The fifth episode of the animated show also featured Spider-Man going up against hordes of brain-eating monsters which included some of his closest friends. That episode ended on a bit of a bittersweet note, with Bruce Banner basically sacrificing himself to allow other heroes to potentially cure the rest of the world from the infection. However, a big obstacle in the way will be a zombified version of Thanos who got ahold of almost all the Infinity Stones. On the bright side, we won't have to wait long to find out how that story unfolds thanks to Marvel Zombies — which will act as a direct continuation of the What If...? episode.
Of course, there have also been reports claiming that the wall-crawler could swing his way on the small screen even before Marvel Zombies releases. The friendly neighborhood hero might steal the spotlight in Daredevil's first stand-alone series on the MCU, which doesn't come as a surprise considering their close friendship in comic book pages. It will only be in the form of a short cameo, but one that's meant to establish a Daredevil and Spidey team-up down the line, potentially in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again as well as Spider-Man 5.
Spider-Man fans have been recently having an amazing time due to the release of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. So it's nice to know we'll also get a few chances to see the wall-crawler even before its next stand-alone movie comes out next year. And if you're craving more Peter Parker stories, there's always Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) to look for.
Marvel Zombies will be released on Disney Plus on Oct. 3, 2025.
