Darth Maul's reign of terror is far from over. The illustrious Star Wars villain has returned to screens to star in his own long-awaited TV series. Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord has premiered on Disney Plus to rave reviews from critics - reviews that have resulted in it becoming the highest-scoring property in the whole franchise. Now, that's impressive.
The series sees Maul attempt to rebuild his own Crime Syndicate on the planet known as Janix. He also plans on using his time there to get revenge on a number of the characters who wronged him during the events of previous animated series The Clone Wars. And here's how long you can expect Maul to stick around through the first season of his show.
Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord has a unique release schedule (and more episodes than you think)
New episodes of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord release on Disney Plus on Mondays at 3:00 a.m. ET, 12:00 a.m. PT, 1:00 a.m. CT, and 2:00 a.m. MT. The first two episodes premiered together and, in what is undoubtedly going to be music to fans' ears, it starts a trend for the series, which will unveil two new episodes each and every Monday morning.
The first season of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord consists of 10 episodes. Lucasfilm and Disney Plus announced as much ahead of the show's premiere, ensuring that fans will get plenty of adventures from the beloved Star Wars villain. While the majority of Star Wars (and Marvel) shows on the platform consist of around 6 - 8 episodes, the animated fare often has more - due to their shorter runtimes and lower budgets.
With all of that in mind, here is the full release schedule for the first season of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord and when you can expect each batch of episodes.
Episode 1: "Chapter 1: The Dark Revenge" - April 6
Episode 2: "Chapter 2: Sinister Schemes" - April 6

Wrapping up the first season's run with the double finale debut on May 4, a.k.a. Star Wars Day, feels mighty appropriate. And the best news of all is that Maul's return is far from over!
You might have noticed me referring to the show's first season throughout this article, and that's because the Disney Plus show has indeed been renewed for a second season. The announcement came just ahead of the series premiere, which means we're going to enjoy a lot more of Darth Maul's return to TV screens in the foreseeable future.
Sam Witwer's eerie warrior has a rather large to-do list - and he'll have plenty of episodes to accomplish those goals across. So, for now, sit back, relax, and enjoy the weekly two-episode releases of Shadow Lord!
