It's safe to say that Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord has been a resounding success for Disney Plus. The Star Wars show premiered on the streaming service just a few weeks ago and it has very quickly made itself at home in the platform's daily Top 10, rarely falling out of the Top 5. With each and every batch of two episodes that release, it makes its way back towards the No. 1 spot (in spite of formidable competition from the likes of Daredevil: Born Again and Hulu outings like The Testaments).

Darth Maul's newest adventures have offered a gripping new corner of the Star Wars story to explore, bridging the gap between beloved animated series The Clone Wars and its sequel series Star Wars Rebels. It's also placed the spotlight on a villain that many Star Wars fans felt was one of the most underrated characters the franchise has ever seen. And with that, here's when you can expect him to take center stage again in the next two episodes of Maul.

What to expect from Maul – Shadow Lord episodes 7 and 8

Since the beginning of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, Maul has been putting his crime syndicate back together in order to bounce back after the events of The Clone Wars, which has also involved getting revenge on those who wronged him. The most intriguing part of the plan he has concocted on the planet of Janix involves his apparent interest in Devon Izara. He recognized that she used to be a Jedi and believes that the two of them have more in common than she cares to admit. Although he let her go freely, he believed that she would return to him when the time was right and, unexpectedly, a confrontation between Maul and the law enforcement officers of Janix resulted in that happening pretty quickly. Unfortunately for everyone involved, it also led to the arrival of the Empire.

Maul has a somewhat respectful relationship with Officer Lawson. Don't get us wrong, he is happily willing to take him out if the two cross paths in a scenario in which there are life-and-death stakes, but he also has an odd amount of respect for him - deeming him an honorable man and even offering to take Janix under his protection should the officer look the other way. While Lawson proved himself to be a man of morals and values, so he understandably refused that offer, it's going to be interesting to see how he, Maul, and Devon all continue to deal with the arrival of the Empire - who none of them want invading Janix.

As we saw in the previous two episodes, tensions are already high and the Empire has wasted little time in already making people on Janix uncomfortable with its presence. With less than half of Maul's first season (a second season has been confirmed via Disney Plus' official renewal announcement) to go, those tensions we spoke about are undoubtedly going to keep rising as the episodes take viewers closer towards the season finale.
