Director Steven Soderbergh has stepped in to help Matt Reeves finish The Batman: Part 2. Last week, Warner Bros. confirmed that Reeves had stepped away to address an urgent family matter.
Reeves hadn't commented on the unfortunate situation, but he finally tweeted a confirmation that Soderbergh had generously approached him to help finish principal photography. Reeves also made it clear that he's not leaving the project.
Just to be clear, I am not leaving The Batman Part II. I am profoundly grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this challenging time to help me finish principal photography. Thank you to all for your concern and well wishes. š¦

Soderbergh is known for helping his fellow filmmakers over the years. He also helped Christopher Nolan secure a distributor for Memento. Although Reeves and Soderbergh made it clear that the project still belongs to Reeves and the duo will collaborate to bring his vision to life, fans remained skeptical, forcing James Gunn to speak up as well.
Gunn said, "Matt is still the director of The Batman 2 and always will be. I canāt express how profoundly grateful and moved we are by Stevenās offer to help him complete his vision."

This is not a Zack Snyder situation because Matt Reeves was not forced to leave the project by Warner Bros. This is a tough situation no filmmaker wants to face. Reeves and Matt Tomlin spent 3 years fine-tuning the script, and production had been running smoothly in London since June. Warner Bros. expressed their continued support for the director in a statement on Soderbergh's collaborative work with Reeves.
As Matt Reeves continues to attend to an ongoing family matter, Steven Soderbergh, as an admirer of Mattās work, approached Matt and will step in, with the full support of DC Studios, to help the writer-director complete the final weeks of principal photography on The Batman Part 2. Matt and Steven will work closely together with the actors and crew to fulfill Mattās vision of the film," the studio said in its statement.
Lead actor Robert Pattinson was asked what's next for him in a recent interview, and he confirmed that he will complete work on The Batman: Part 2 soon. The Batman Saga News reported that filming will resume at Central Hall Westminster by Parliament Square in London next week. Matt Reeves will eventually return when the movie enters post-production. The Batman: Part 2, starring Robert Pattinson, is scheduled to hit theaters on February 18, 2028.
