Stitch is unexpectedly worthy in new Marvel crossover covers

You may recall that we previously reported that Stitch, the lovably mischievous alien from the Lilo & Stitch franchise, was recently featured causing mayhem on various Marvel covers. And Marvel clearly feels that fans have not had enough of Stitch, because it has been revealed that the frivolous alien will be appearing on even more covers from the House of Ideas over the coming months. So, whether you love him or loathe him, Stitch is certainly not going away anytime soon.

As reported by Marvel.com, the new series of covers, which are showcased in the linked article, will form part of Disney’s new ‘Stitch Unleash The Holidays’ campaign, which aims to put Stitch in just about everything, with the $1 billion success of the live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch from earlier this year no doubt being a contributing factor in the creation of this campaign.

Stitch's crossover with the Marvel Universe continues in unlikely ways

The variant covers once again show Stitch crashing into the Marvel Universe in parodies of famous covers from Marvel’s history. As Marvel also confirmed, some of the covers being parodied include Venom: Lethal Protector No.1, Silver Surfer No.1, and Thor No. 337, as no hero or villain is safe from Stitch’s chaotic antics.

The comics featuring variant Stitch covers also include Avengers No. 33, with a cover showing Stitch riding the Silver Surfer’s board, Planet She-Hulk No. 2, depicting Stitch as Wolverine with Candy canes instead of claws, and The Will of Doom No. 1, where Stitch opens a present which probably does not belong to him, while Reed Richards and Susan Storm look on in horror. Meanwhile, the cover for Amazing Spider-Man No. 178 shows Stitch wearing a Venom sweater, because the sight of Stitch actually being infused with the Venom Symbiote would probably be too disturbing and unbecoming of Stitch’s wholesome image.

Best of all, the variant cover for Thor No. 5 shows Stitch wielding Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. You would probably not have thought that Stitch would be worthy to lift Mjolnir, but he was also shown carrying the hammer with his teeth on the cover of Avengers No. 30 earlier this year, so Stitch certainly should not be underestimated. Anyone who wields Mjolnir possesses the powers of Thor, but most of us will probably dread to think what the mischievous and troublesome Stitch would do with such immense, godly powers.

The Stitch cover for Thor No. 5 was drawn by Humberto Ramos, while Luciano Vecchio created the Avengers No. 33 cover featuring Stitch, and Paco Medina illustrated the Planet She-Hulk. Those three comics will be available on December 17, while The Will of Doom and Amazing Spider-Man No. 18, which respectively feature ‘Disney Stitch Unleash The Holidays’ variant covers by Phil Noto and Ben Su, will arrive in stores on December 24. So, if you are already feeling tired of seeing Stitch everywhere, you should probably brace yourself as the alien formerly known as Experiment 626 crashes the holidays.
