The upcoming new The Boys prequel just added two actors who are used to genre television and are ready to bring this new spinoff to life!
Deadline has now shared that Mason Dye and KiKi Layne had been cast in so far unnamed roles in Vought Rising. They’ll be joining stars Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash as well as other previously announced regulars, Will Hochman, Elizabeth Posey, Jorden Myrie, Nicolò Pasetti, Ricky Staffieri and Brian J. Smith.
Dye is known as Jason Carver in season 4 of Stranger Things, making him already used to genre television. He was also previously announced as playing “Bombsight” in season 5 of The Boys, although it’s uncertain if this will be the same character in Vought Rising. The character was mentioned as the third oldest living superhero, but given the show, this may be just a new guy using the same name.
Layne had a breakout role in the 2018 drama If Beale Street Could Talk. She’s become known to genre fans playing newbie immortal Nile in 2020’s The Old Guard and its 2025 sequel. Her role is rumored by Deadline to be “a Harlem housewife with ambitions.”
The addition of the pair enhances the cast for an already intriguing prequel.
The Boys is set for its final season in 2026. It looks to wrap up the adaptation of the acclaimed dark and violent comic book as the Seven and Vought International have effectively taken over the United States, with the Boys scattered and/or captured.
Before that will come season 2 of Gen V, which will explore more of Vought dominating the U.S. with the college kids now trained as their soldiers. However, there are still more plans to expand The Boys universe, including Vought Rising.

What is Vought Rising about?
The series is set in the 1950s and will detail how Vought International began and its rise to power. It’s described as “a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought.”
Jensen Ackles will reprise his role as Soldier Boy, the arrogant and borderline psychotic “hero" who becomes Vought’s first poster boy. Aya Cash will also return as Stormfront, the electricity-wielding Nazi scientist posing as a heroine who appears to barely age.
The Boys creators Paul Grellong and Erick Kripke will handle showrunning duties here. While the story isn't based on any specific comic by creator Garth Ennis, it does build on elements he created for the universe.
There are also plans for an animated spinoff, The Boys: Diabolical, but this series looks more interesting. Seeing how Vought formed and began its control will be great in fleshing out the saga. Cash made for a memorable villainess while Ackles stole every scene as Soldier Boy and seeing both characters in their younger days has promise.
The show is set to start filming in September and we’ll know more details as it comes to make for another chapter in the always insane Boys universe.
