We have officially arrived at the final ever episode of The Boys, and the stakes couldn't be any higher. The penultimate episode of the Prime Video series featured the most tragic death of the series. Frenchie sacrificed his life to make sure that Kimiko and Sage would survive Homelander showing up at their hideout. Rather than have Homelander kill him, the creative team left Frenchie dying in Kimiko’s arms from radiation poisoning. And, like the comics, Frenchie’s last words to her were: “Je t’aime. From the first.” As a fan of the source material, this scene was brilliantly done.

Before Frenchie dies, he and Butcher were attempting to give Kimiko a power similar to Soldier Boy's power-sapping chest beam. They hoped that she could use them to depower Homelander and then kill him. If Frenchie hadn’t saved them, the team wouldn’t be able to save the world from the homicidal, American flag-wearing, self-proclaimed God. Whether or not it will work remains to be seen. Here's how you can watch the series finale to see what happens.

The Boys season 5 episode 8 release date and time on Prime Video

The Boys season 5 episode 8, titled “Blood and Bone”, will premiere on Prime Video in the US on Wednesday, May 20, at 3:00 a.m. ET, 12:00 a.m. PT, 1:00 a.m. MT, and 2:00 a.m. CT. This is the same timeslot that the show has released in throughout the final season's run, so it's unlikely to change for the finale. That being said, as select US theaters are showing it earlier, it's best to mute notifications for the show while you wait for the episode to premiere on the streamer.

What to expect in The Boys season 5 episode 8

This is the moment that people have been waiting for all season, maybe even all series. This is the series finale of The Boys, which means that seven years (and five seasons) worth of storytelling is set to come a head in this episode. And there is a lot of interest, curiosity, and divisiveness as to whether it can - or will - pull it all off.

Heck, even fans of Garth Ennis' The Boys comic book series are wondering how it is going to end. Since the Black Noir ending isn’t happening, fans of the source material won’t know how Prime Video's TV adaptation will come to a close.

With a show like this one, literally anything could happen. Will Homelander die? Is Billy Butcher going to sacrifice himself to end all Supes? Possibly both, possibly neither; one thing we do know, however, is that there will be a showdown between what's left of The Boys and The Seven at the White House - which is sure to have large-scale consequences for all characters. However, the one thing I believe will happen is that Hughie and Starlight live happily ever after. We'll have to wait and see what all goes down in the series finale. Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to see how The Boys concludes.
