It's been a big week for The Boys and it's only going to get bigger. Prime Video's game-changing superhero series shocked viewers in its penultimate episode, which featured one of the most crushing deaths in the show's five season run, and now it's set to do it all again with its upcoming series finale.
Yes, The Boys season 5 episode 8 will change the Vought Cinematic Universe forever, bringing the bloody story of the Seven and the Boys to a close once and for all. If you don't believe us, Prime Video has released the teaser trailer for the series finale itself - and let's just say all hell is about to break loose.
The Boys and Homelander collide in series finale trailer
The trailer for The Boys season 5 episode 8, titled "Blood and Bone", has been released. That also means that it's the final trailer that the series will ever release as this upcoming episode is indeed the series finale. So, yes, you can rest assured that they decided to go out swinging. And, with that, let's dive into it.
Watch the trailer for The Boys series finale below:
It has all come down to this: Homelander's obsession with being an all-powerful "god" and Billy Butcher's relentless pursuit of a future without Supes has led us to this very moment. Therefore, it should come as no surprise to learn that the series finale of The Boys will be all about both of those things.
The trailer opens with Butcher voicing over the clips, his voice firm and steadfast as he tells us: "We need to end the whole bloody notion of Supes." And with that, the 30-second teaser shows us that he will set out to do that one more time by targetting the biggest Supe of them all - his archenemy, Homelander.
A battle will ensue at the White House as the Boys confront Homelander there in the hopes of killing him once and for all - something that is actually possible now that they have a Supes Virus that would weaken him. Kimiko will also be looking for revenge after the death of Frenchie in the previous episode, and it's going to be interesting to see if that will ultimately have an impact on the Boys' mission to stop them. After all, we know what happened in Avengers: Infinity War when a grief-stricken Star-Lord wasn't thinking clearly and inadvertently allowed Thanos to escape; we don't want the same thing to happen here with Homelander.

There are two major absences in the trailer, which has led fans to believe that those particular characters might not be involved in The Boys season 5 finale. Unfortunately, those suspicions are seemingly correct about Soldier Boy, as Eric Kripke previously confirmed that Jensen Ackles' last scenes in the show have already aired in the sixth episode, meaning that he won't be appearing on our screens again until spinoff Vought Rising next year.
Speaking of spinoffs, the other character is Marie Moreau. The main character of recently-cancelled spinoff Gen V, Marie (Jaz Sinclair) has played a part in The Boys' final season as the narrative of both shows have suggested that she is the only one powerful enough to stop Homelander. Fans haven't been particularly thrilled about the character's utilization in the mothership series thus far and, judging by her absence in the trailer, expectations aren't high for her role in the series finale.
Regardless of who does or doesn't appear in the finale, it's clear that The Boys is going to go on a very, very memorable note. It could be the TV event of the year - and that's really saying something considering all the TV shows that have aired, and are still yet to air, this year!
We are ready - and absolutely not ready - for it!
