Fans of The Boys better get ready, as one star is hinting that not everyone is going to make it out alive in the fifth and final season!

The Boys just wrapped up filming its fifth and final season, and anticipation is high when it comes to how Amazon Prime Video's brutal comic book series is going to wrap up. Viewers already know that the show can get wild and bloody with some of the most shocking on-screen carnage imaginable.

Speaking at Fan Expo, moderated by Screen Rant, Karl Urban, who plays Billy Butcher, issued a warning to fans that there will be some major deaths occurring, some of which may be in the season premiere.

"I think we throw you in the deep end, but in a good way, because the stakes are as high as they can possibly be. I think the real thing to look out for in season 5 on an emotional level, as far as the characters go, and your attachments to characters, there's going to be some big hits early on in the very first episode. That's probably what is going to make you realize, “Oh, this s--t is for real.” The stakes couldn't be higher, and anybody's fair game."

For fans of the original comic book series, this claim should be no surprise. That comic likewise killed off major characters without warning, with the final story arc seeing a shocking body count. If the show is even half as daring, it’s going to be a nasty watch for fans.

Who could die in The Boys season 5?

The Boys pushes how no one is safe from a sudden end so it's only logical they'd go all out for the final year. The season 4 finale set up a big turn as Vought effectively took over the United States with a puppet President, and the majority of the Boys were captured. Gen V season 2 revealed Starlight was on the loose and recruiting some of the Godolkin U students to be part of a resistance.

Obviously, fans would love to see Homelander finally bow out after all his horrific actions over the course of the series. The Deep is another top contender with his own awful history, and it’s sadly logical that A-Train will end up redeeming himself by sacrificing his life to stop Vought.

But that doesn’t mean the Boys are immune to any deaths. It’d be far too fitting for many in the squad to give up their lives in this struggle and add pathos to the tale. Butcher in particular seems on a mission to take down the Supes, which may turn him into the very threat he’s tried to fight all this time. A tragic end for some of these beloved characters may be in the cards so fans best get ready.

The Boys has never played by the rules and always worked on its own path, no matter how controversial. So it makes sense that it ends with a body count no one would expect, and adds to the series’ realism. We don’t know who’s on the list yet but season 5 of The Boys may have few regular characters get out alive. And after Urban's comments, it sounds like some of those character demises could come even earlier than expected.

The Boys seasons 1-4 are streaming on Prime Video.
