Marvel Studios' most recent blockbuster has arrived on Disney Plus. The first film in the sixth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Fantastic Four: First Steps was one of the biggest success stories that the studio has had on the movie side of things in quite some time. It was a welcome comeback for the MCU and an exciting beginning for a brand new chapter that is set to have a major impact on the franchise going forward.
The film sees Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm / The Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm / The Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm / The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) unite to save the world - and Reed and Sue's newborn son Franklin - from Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). The stakes have never been higher for their earth and it certainly makes for an emotional outing.
Of course, with any Marvel movie, you'll probably be wondering if The Fantastic Four: First Steps has a post-credits scene - especially if its recent debut on Disney Plus is the first time you're watching it. Here's what you should know.
Does The Fantastic Four: First Steps have a post-credits scene?
If you've sat down to watch The Fantastic Four: First Steps for the first time on Disney Plus and would like to know if you should stick around after the credits, the answer is, of course: Yes. This is an MCU movie, so you can indeed expect a post-credits scene. But don't just be ready for one, as there are two post-credits scenes.
In a rather surprising turn of events, it's the mid-credits scene that is the most important of the two as it features a major tease of things to come for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's also, by far, one of the most compelling after credits scenes of the entire Multiverse Saga, capturing the essence that the storytelling device did so successfully throughout the Infinity Saga.
The second post-credits scene takes place at the very end of the movie and it's more of a funny teaser - a tag, if you will, designed to make you smile, laugh, and perhaps even shout a little - it really depends on what you were expecting.
If you'd like a more detailed explanation as to what actually happens in the scenes, read on. But we'll warn you now, there are SPOILERS.
The Fantastic Four's post-credits scenes explained
The mid-credits scene in The Fantastic Four: First Steps is one of the most pivotal of the whole MCU. Taking place at the Baxter Building, it features Sue Storm reading to her son Franklin Richards. This is meant to feel like a more normal scene after we all discovered the true extent of Franklin's powers in the closing act of the movie. However, the normality of it all drains away when Sue gets up to investigate a potential disturbance across the room. When she returns, she notices a figure looming over her son. Yes, it's none other than Doctor Doom.

The ruler of Latveria, Doom is showing the baby his face as he is holding his signature mask in his left hand. We don't see his face, but we all know what it's going to look like, as Robert Downey Jr, has been cast as the villain, who is set to be the next Big Bad of the MCU. And on that note, this is a direct set-up for one of the MCU's next movies: Avengers: Doomsday.
The Fantastic Four are among the many, many MCU stars set to appear in that film as the Avengers will reunite in the hopes of stopping Doctor Victor von Doom from bringing about the end of the multiverse. Considering that there is a direct sequel - Avengers: Secret Wars, set for a 2027 release - we're thinking that the battle against the MCU villain might take a while.
The second post-credits scene is simply an opening for a Fantastic Four animated series, complete with theme tune. It's a fun little tag to entertain audiences and a light-hearted way to end an extremely fun, enjoyable movie. But it goes without saying that the first of the two teasers was the one that left the biggest impression.
