The previous few seasons of The Legend of Vox Machina had the team fighting a variety of dragons with different strengths, weaknesses, and abilities. After something as cool and dangerous as dragons, you had to wonder how they’d top that. Well, in the three-episode premiere of season 4, we learn that they’ll be fighting a magical and seemingly undying cult - which may be more worrisome than a dragon that spits acid.
At the end of the third episode, Vox Machina gets their first clue to the whereabouts of the Children of Truth from Taryon Darrington (an unlikely source). He points out that they use Shadowstones in their wands and says that it's only found in mines near Deastok. Taryon knows this because Deastok just so happens to be his home. Now, the team is on its way to find out what’s going on with the Children of Truth and their apparent team leader, the Necro-Ninja.
One of the best parts of this season has been seeing Keyleth become a stronger character in power and personality. Now that she’s the Tempest (the leader/representative of the Ashari), she has to take charge. And when the villains (the Children of Truth) came to fight, she did just that. Not only did she lead the Ashari, but she also stopped her teammates from arguing and motivated them to “F*** s**t up.” It was a major leap for Keyleth that was perfectly timed.

What to expect in the next episodes of The Legend of Vox Machina
Everybody (viewers and Vox Machina) wants to know where Scanlan Shorthalt is. A year ago, he left the team to spend time with his daughter and hasn’t been seen since. He even missed Keyleth's coronation. This is weird because he wouldn’t have skipped it unless something major was stopping him. And that’s what I think we’ll learn in the upcoming episodes.
The Matron of Ravens showed Vax that there’s a thread connecting him and his team. Viewers saw this to be true after seeing each of them fighting the Children of Truth in different parts of the realm. That means Scanlan was likely held up because he was dealing with them himself. Hopefully, it didn’t lead to something tragic like the death of his daughter or either of them losing their eyes. Regardless, we should get answers during one of these next episodes - most likely at the end to build anticipation for the next batch of episodes.
