The Marvel Cinematic Universe is back. There were some ups and downs along the way, but the studio has successfully reversed some of the issues with its Multiverse Saga and turned it back into must-see entertainment. That applies to both the big screen and the small screen, with its monumental cinematic showdown Deadpool and Wolverine scoring rave reviews and a $1.3 billion box office performance and its most recent Disney Plus series Agatha All Along also scoring strong viewing figures and a warm, positive reception from fans.

With two multiverse-changing Avengers movies on the horizon, that's a good thing. With excitement and good word-of-mouth back on its side, the studio is beginning to lay the foundations for how this saga will come full-circle, and it has some heavy-hitters on the horizon to do that in, including Captain America: Brave New World and Spider-Man 4.

And speaking of laying the groundwork, there is another title that Marvel has spent the majority of the Multiverse Saga laying the groundwork for, but has yet to truly make it happen. A new report, however, suggests it could finally be on the horizon.

Rumored Young Avengers movie is (finally) reportedly in development

According to industry insider Grace Randolph, a Young Avengers movie is in development at Marvel Studios. That might not come as a surprise to everyone as there have been signs that Marvel has been building towards this project for some time, but hearing this scoop from Randolph is certainly a good sign for fans as it means that it could very well still be on the table.

The Young Avengers talk first began as early as the opening chapter of the Multiverse Saga, as Phase Four's first installment, Disney Plus series WandaVision, introduced the twin sons of the Scarlet Witch, Tommy and Billy Maximoff (a.k.a. Speed and Wiccan). The pair even donned Halloween costumes that paid tribute to their comic book counterparts, and this understandably had fans wondering if Wanda's sons were just the beginning for Young Avengers characters appearing in the MCU.

That theory would turn out to be correct as subsequent projects would introduce more, starting with Elijah Bradley's Patriot in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and then leading to Kid Loki appearing in Disney Plus' Loki, Kate Bishop in Hawkeye, America Chavez in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel, along with Ant-Man regular Cassie Lang becoming Stature in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Conversations about a Young Avengers project quietened down around the time that it was revealed that the studio would be employing a new less-is-more strategy. The project, which was originally rumored to be a TV series, was feared to be one of the many that Marvel ended up scrapping as it re-shifted its focus and decreased its output - a strategy that reportedly led to the cancellation of future sequels for the Ant-Man, Captain Marvel, and Eternals franchises, as well as a rumored second season of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.

However, the project was brought back into the conversation in the past year due to the post-credits scene of The Marvels teasing a team-up between Ms. Marvel and Kate Bishop. It has again resurfaced in recent months due to the release of WandaVision spinoff Agatha All Along, which starred Joe Locke as a mysterious Teen. That Teen character was subsequently revealed to be the reincarnated version of Billy Maximoff, a.k.a. Wiccan, which many now believe to be setting the stage for a Young Avengers project. Those reports claimed that, if the project were to happen now, it would be a movie.

This new report isn't the first time that the movie has come up in recent months, but it does add more weight to the idea that Marvel is finally developing the project that it has been setting the table for throughout the entire Multiverse Saga. That's very exciting, because the pieces of the puzzle are very much in play, so it would ultimately enhance the storytelling experience to bring them all together for a film. And with so many unique personalities, dynamics, and super-powers between them, it would surely feel like an Avengers moment all over again.
