Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to introduce no shortage of challenges for the friendly neighborhood hero. After disappearing from the public eye for nearly a decade, the Hand will appear in New York once more, and they are bound to bring destruction with them. Furthermore, the Scorpion will finally make his live-action debut after being set up as a force to be reckoned with in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Homecoming back in 2017. Surprisingly enough, the list doesn't stop there.

Tombstone, Tarantula, and Boomerang are confirmed to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Furthermore, Bruce Banner will lose control of his other half, which means we'll see the Hulk go toe-to-toe with the friendly neighborhood hero. To make things more complicated, it appears that Jean Grey will act as the main antagonistic force in the film. But in case all of that wasn't enough, a new antagonist has been officially confirmed to appear in the wall-crawler's upcoming adventure set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ramrod will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day

A new Spider-Man: Brand New Day TV spot has just made its way online, and it features multiple new scenes not seen in any previous trailer. One of them showcases the wall-crawler fighting Ramrod, a Marvel villain who is a cyborg in the source material.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton has just recreated the cover of The Amazing Spider-Man No. 221 by pitting Spidey and Ramrod against each other. Furthermore, this isn't the first time we've seen such iconography being used in the film. The cover of Amazing Fantasy No. 15—where the wall-crawler swings through the air while getting a civilian to safety—was also recreated, alongside the cover of The Amazing Spider-Man No. 345, in which Boomerang fights the iconic hero.

There are growing worries that Spider-Man: Brand New Day could feature too many bad guys for its own good. After all, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 were heavily criticized for being a little too crowded. Fortunately, it seems Marvel won't repeat the same mistake for a third time.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been officially confirmed to open things up with a montage. Furthermore, it has been reported that this sequence will showcase Spidey fighting multiple villains since the end of No Way Home. With each passing battle, we'll see Peter upgrade his suit, resulting in the new (awesome) design we'll see throughout the majority of Brand New Day.

It is likely that the more unknown villains like Tarantula, Boomerang, and Ramrod will only appear in the film's opening montage. That means Scorpion, The Hand, and Tombstone will be the ones to act as the main overarching antagonists. That way, Marvel can give us glimpses of the wall-crawler overcoming many different obstacles without completely overcrowding the movie.

Perhaps that quick scene of Spidey making Ramrod run into the wall will be all we'll see of the supervillain. Still, it can be more than enough for Marvel to create merchandise and toys centered around him, so it's a win-win scenario for everyone involved. After all, we'll still see Ramrod's live-action debut, and that moment won't take up a lot of the film's screentime.

More surprises could be in store for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It has been reported that The Enforcers and 8-Ball will also appear in the movie, and they could be perfect candidates to show up in the opening sequence too. So what other villains are bound to take the spotlight (even if just for a second)? Well, there's only one way to find out.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on Jul. 31, 2026.
