The Vision is back! Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated - and long-awaited - VisionQuest is finally upon us, and fans all over the world are ready to catch up with Paul Bettany's beloved synthezoid hero. And considering that they haven't seen him in action since 2021's WandaVision, it goes without saying that expectations are high - especially as both that series and first spinoff Agatha All Along were critically-acclaimed. Can VisionQuest close out that trilogy on a high?

It certainly hopes to, as the Vision spinoff makes its presence felt on Disney Plus in a big way, bringing in a mutltude of the MCU's AI characters, albeit human avatars of them. And yes, that includes the infamous Ultron, with James Spader reprising the role in person this time, as he spends a lot of time in the attic of Vision's mind.

So, just what adventures does White Vision get up to in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series? Well, emotional ones, that's for sure!

*** This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for VisionQuest episodes 1 and 2. Don't read if you would prefer it wasn't spoiled for you. ***

The sacrifice we didn't see coming (but one done for family)

VisionQuest saw the White Vision attempt to reconcile who he was with who he is, and that led him to Ultron. However, out in the real world, Paladin hunted him - working for a mysterious benefactor who wanted the Vision brought in. The working theories are that it might be SWORD or another government organization looking to claim the weapon for themselves. But that seems too easy, right?

In any event, Paladin tacks down Thomas Shepard, who believes that he is the son the of Wanda Maximoff and Vision, imprisoning him in the mental institution that he narrowly avoided ending up in a year prior. Upon realizing that he might indeed have a son, Vision does some soul-searching to see if he is truly capable of being a father - and if this is even possible. But, as Ultron reminds him, anything is possible in the MCU.

Vision ultimately decides to save Tommy from the trap, confronting Paladin's men and rescuing his potential son. However, the room around them becomes an EMP room; Paladin played the on card Vision couldn't come back from as it knocks out his powers and short-circuits his mind. What the villain did plan for, however, was for Tommy to have speedy hands - which he used to quickly weaken the door's screws. He and Vision then burst through the door and into the hallway. Unfortunately, they run straight into Paladin.

The bounty hunter uses Adamnatium bullets to weaken Vision, taking him close to death. Tommy begs him to come with him, but Vision insists that his son leave for his own safety. As he begins to shut down, the doors to Ultron's prison opens, allowing him to enter the living room of Vision's mind, with all of the other failing AIs. That's when he gives them a brainwave: Vision can't keep them all alive, but a sacrifice could reroute that power into the other AIs.

And with that, JARVIS makes the ultimate sacrifice for his brother, giving the other AIs their power back - and powering Vision back up for a moment. And it's just long enough for Tommy to drive around the corner in a stolen car to drive them away to safety.

JARVIS' sacrifice is a major one, ending a legendary era for the MCU franchise. Before he bowed out, however, it was great to see James D'Arcy (a.k.a. Edwin Jarvis from Agent Carter) bring him to life. And what a moment it was. We love you, JARVIS!
