Back in March 2022, audiences worldwide stepped into a new twisted version of Gotham City courtesy of Matt Reeves' The Batman. Although the movie was surrounded by a lot of skepticism before its release, it quickly became one of the Dark Knight's most memorable adventures on the big screen once it hit theaters. Fans were eager to see more of this iteration of DC's iconic hero, but a sequel was unfortunately delayed time and time again.
While HBO Max's The Penguin finally expanded the franchise's story, half a decade will have passed between the release of The Batman and its highly anticipated follow-up. As a result, fans started to take it upon themselves to return to Matt Reeves' iteration of Gotham sooner than intended, and what better way to do so than in a video game?
Despite being released over a decade ago, Batman: Arkham Knight is the latest adventure of the Caped Crusader in a video game world, excluding VR titles. As such, it is the perfect candidate for a ReShade based on The Batman's atmosphere, and fortunately, that's exactly what we got.
A new Batman: Arkham Knight ReShade brings the world of Matt Reeves' The Batman to life
Every live-action iteration of Gotham City has a different feel and look, yet few of them are as captivating as Matt Reeves'. Now, you can also step into that world, as user ethansescape33
created a mod for Batman: Arkham Knight that perfectly captures the city that Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne vows to protect. The big neon signs take the spotlight, the primary color of Detective vision was switched from blue to red, and the Batmobile now looks like its movie counterpart.
While Rocksteady created an official The Batman skin for Batman: Arkham Knight, fans weren't too fond of it, as it didn't look like a complete 1-to-1 recreation of the suit shown on the big screen. As a result, the mod appears to be using an upgraded version of Robert Pattinson's Batsuit created by user Kenpach22. With all of those elements combined, players can now relive the events of the iconic DC movie.
Given that movie-tie-in video games aren't really a thing anymore, it is unlikely we'll ever get a proper The Batman title. However, that doesn't mean we won't see more of DC's iconic hero on consoles. After the critical and commercial failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, it has been heavily reported that Rocksteady went back to square one and is now working on a new single-player Batman game. While it hasn't been revealed if this project will be a reboot or not (or whether Damian Wayne will be the main character this time around), it's been a long time coming for another Batman game to take the spotlight.
In the movie realm, The Batman - Part II is finally starting to look like a reality. After years of delays, we finally have interesting casting news that indicates Sebastian Stan might join the movie as Two-Face, while Scarlett Johansson is rumored to bring Gilda Dent to life. Barry Keoghan's Joker is set to make a comeback in the sequel as well, and shooting will begin in Spring 2026. With that in mind, it won't be long before we finally have a better look at what awaits in the world of The Batman. In the meantime, we have a fantastic video game mod that could make the wait feel shorter.
The Batman - Part II will be released on Oct. 1, 2027.
