There are just two episodes of House of the Dragon season 3 left to air. With that in mind, you can rest assured that the HBO series has no plans in holding back when it comes to surprising moments. And that's assuming that it has been - which it absolutely has not been!
The third season has been making up for the relatively slow pace of the second season, kicking things off with the mighty Battle of the Gullet, which featured some major character deaths. The second episode also saw some long-standing characters in the Game of Thrones spinoff meet their demise, with some of the subsequent episodes doing the same. When the Iron Throne is involved, the bloodshed doesn't stop.
The previous episode of the series saw the death of Ser Criston Cole, while also leaving fans worried about Lord Corlys Velaryon. The Sea Snake had been taken by men that he did not recognize, with the screen cutting to black as he was being choked unconscious. After narrowly avoiding death earlier this season, was it really time for Corlys to bow out? That's what the sixth episode of the season looks to answer.

Corlys survives the attack (but is he still alive when all is said and done?)
Is Corlys dead? That's what House of the Dragon fans were left asking after the previous episode's surprising cliffhanger. It's the second time this season that the show has closed out an episode with the Sean Snake's fate uncertain and, thankfully, just like the first time, the answer is: No.
It turns out that Lord Ormund Hightower has kidnapped the beloved Corlys and is holding him hostage. Although he doesn't really see it like that, as the Sea Snake is allowed all the comforts that he desires while staying in Tumbleton - including a huge banquet meal at the same table as Ormund, Daeron, and Gwayne. It turns out that Ormund wants him to abandon Rhaenyra and join them instead, citing his recent differences with the queen. However, once Ormund brings up his wife - the beloved Rhaenys Targaryen - Corlys heads back to his room. That is... until Ormund requests something from him.
Aemond kills Ser Adrian Redfort (but does Alicent kill Aemond?)
One of the biggest plot points of this episode was Alicent Hightower's arrival at Harrenhal. We know that she has been sent to kill her son, Aemond Targaryen, by the queen, Rhaenyra Targaryen, but the episode intentionally makes us wonder if she would be willing to go through with it. Despite how uncomfortable Aemond makes her, he is her son- and Alicent at least tries to be a good mother.
The plan can't really get off the ground, however, because when Alicent reveals to Aemond that Ser Adrian Redfort helped her get from King's Landing to Harrenhal, he kills Ser Adrian before he can strike. Yes, the plan was to clearly take Aemond out but poor Ser Adrian never got the chance - and it wasn't out of fear that he might try to kill him, but fear of strangers in Harrenhal in general. Aemond doesn't want anyone finding out about Dreamfyre's eggs that Alys Rivers showed to him in last week's episode.
That leaves Alicent to do the job herself, which is that much more difficult due to the fact that Alys doesn't trust her - or, more importantly, want her there. Although Aemond isn't particularly affectionate towards his mother out of his lack of trust, he won't have Alys speak rudely towards her. And that creates an interesting dynamic: Can Alicent be trusted or is Alys' apparent selfishness actually some point-on intuition?
