Since March 24, 2026, audiences worldwide have witnessed a relentless war taking place in the heart of New York courtesy of Daredevil: Born Again season 2. The Devil of Hell's Kitchen did everything in his power to overthrow the Kingpin of Crime as the city's mayor. Blood was spilled, lives were taken, and citizens were unfairly imprisoned, only to be rescued by a blind lawyer in a superhero costume. But now that the dust has finally settled, it's time to ask: What will happen next?
Daredevil: Born Again was originally set to have 18 episodes during its first season. However, after a creative reboot mid-production, Marvel decided to split it into two parts of nine episodes each. The first season of the Disney+ show stuck to this plan, leading fans to believe that a similar scenario would be in store for season 2. Unfortunately, that wasn't ultimately the case, as the violent tale of a lawyer against a city mayor came to an end with spisode 8. Fortunately, not everything is grim, as there is still something to look forward to next week.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is over, but we'll still get a new street-level adventure next week
While Daredevil: Born Again season 2 was initially suggested to have nine episodes, showrunner Dario Scardapane revealed that we'd see eight episodes instead during an interview with Collider:
"At this point, [Daredevil: Born Again] will be a nine-episode first season. We start shooting an eight-episode second season on Friday, and the future is unwritten. I don't know if the story necessarily ends at the end of the second season. I think the future's unwritten."
So why did Marvel decide to shake things up a bit and not stick to the original nine-episode second season? Well, because we still have a new release to look forward to, except it is a Disney+ presentation featuring everyone's favorite anti-hero: Frank Castle.

Fans have speculated that the scrapped ninth episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 evolved into The Punisher: One Last Kill special. That's why it will be released exactly one week after the Man Without Fear's adventure came to an end. Besides, it's clear that the two Disney+ projects are connected.
The last time audiences saw Frank Castle was during the finale of Daredevil: Born Again season 1, where he was imprisoned at the Red Hook Port by the Kingpin of Crime. However, the iconic anti-hero was nowhere to be seen in season 2, despite the fact that Matt Murdock rescued everyone held captive at Red Hook. As such, The Punisher: One Last Kill presentation will serve to fill this gap while also setting the scene for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, where Frank Castle also has a role to play.
Fortunately, we haven't seen the last of Matt Murdock. Daredevil: Born Again season 3 is currently being filmed, with a likely release date in March 2027 (keeping the yearly release tradition alive). Furthermore, the Man Without Fear won't be the only one set to fight for the soul of New York City. Set pictures have revealed that the Defenders are bound to assemble on the small screen once more. Who knows? Maybe Danny Rand could even wear the Daredevil costume now that Matt is in jail.
Unfortunately, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is officially over. However, The Punisher: One Last Kill special presentation is just around the corner, and there are still plenty of superhero projects to look forward to. This month will also feature the release of Spider-Noir, while Spider-Man: Brand New Day will premiere in a couple of months. Marvel's street-level lineup couldn't be any better, and we can't wait to see what other surprises await in store.
The Punisher: One Last Kill special presentation will be released on May 12, 2026.
