Robert Downey, Jr., returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Doomsday, but in a much different metallic mask. He trades the golden visage of Iron Man for the cold riveted steel of Doctor Doom. Despite leaks and speculation, exact details regarding the breakup are not forthcoming. We especially do not know if Downey's Doom is Victor Von -- despotic ruler of Latveria -- or if he is a variant of Tony Stark who went rogue, which some people are anticipating.
Should that be the case, we might bear witness to a repeat of what happened in Avengers: Endgame and see Downey's on-screen daughter steal the show and hearts again. There is a rumor that the recently cast child actress Matilda Firth could be playing Doom's daughter. However, that scuttlebutt comes with a few caveats.
The big one is the story is not confirmed, so take it with a grain of salt. While the young Firth, one of the stars of 2025's Wolf Man, is a verified member of the colossal ensemble, her exact part is yet to be revealed. The belief she plays Doom's daughter is the strongest lead, but there are a few directions the script could take with that.
A prominent scoop put forth by supposed insiders claims Firth and another child actor named Pacino Khan were cast to play Doom's daughter and son. Moreover, in one reported twist, the mad scientist dictator loses the children tragically in an explosive event that sets off his multiversal journey of revenge and conquest.
Firth could also play Valeria von Doom, a revamped version of his goddaughter in the comics who was the offspring of Reed Richards and Sue Storm and the sibling of Franklin. Valeria possessed the power of time travel, which could end up as the upcoming film's explanation for how Doom is able to jump around the Multiverse TVA-style. Not that he would need much help with his scientific intellect and proclivity for black magic.
The above is an interesting idea and a likely scenario, but the rumor alleging that Firth is portraying a child of Doom started after her agency slipped up. They added the role in Doomsday to her growing resume, labeling the character "Little Girl" before removing it. That credit is less a name than a broad distinction that invites multiple interpretations, but it has fans pointing to the Doom family quite easily.
If the entire film isn't leaked online before then, all will be revealed when Avengers: Doomsday reaches screens in December. In all probability, though, it is a safe prediction that Firth will not reunite with her Wolf Man co-star Julia Garner, as the whereabouts of Shalla-Bal and Galactus after Fantastic Four: First Steps are unknown.
