4. 9-1-1: Lone Star

The 9-1-1 cinematic universe is expanding once again, but unfortunately the franchise's exciting new ABC era won't include original spinoff 9-1-1: Lone Star. The Rob Lowe-led spinoff has been a fixture of Fox since its premiere in 2020, quickly becoming one of the most-watched shows on the network, and it has remained a consistently strong performer for it in the years since.

It also remained behind on Fox after parent series 9-1-1 made the jump to ABC. At the time that seemed like a good thing, but it unfortunately set the stage for its premature end. While 9-1-1 found new life on its home network, Lone Star ended up suffering a similar fate to its predecessor, except this time ABC saving it wasn't a viable option. And as a result, it will end with its current fifth season.

There is no doubt about it that five seasons is a great run, but for a procedural series it's rather short. We're talking about a genre that can run for anywhere between 10 and 24 seasons, and while nobody is saying that any of the 9-1-1 shows have to run for that long, five seasons is unnecessarily short given how popular Lone Star still is.

ABC has plans to extend the franchise with a brand new 9-1-1 spinoff set to join the original series on the network, but unfortunately its original spinoff will be bowing out before any of that happens.

Petition to move TK and Carlos to the new spinoff, anyone?
